I think people are taking his “yeah, yeah, yeah” as agreement (I did initially), when it was most likely to get him to shut up lol.

The T*mothee discourse has made its inevitable pivot into “so we can all admit now that we actually hate ballet and opera, right?” and I hate every single one of those people.

I blame this year’s Oscars discourse. Hamnet destroyed me and so many others, but there are still “cinephiles” out there going “is everyone dumb? This was the worst movie I’ve ever seen.” Those people will always be there. It’s also not possible to make a “perfect” movie. So why stress?

I thought I could find a balance between what I wanted and what others seemed to want, but I’m realising that I really only worry about what others will think when I’m writing. It’s crippling. I’m sure a balance can be achieved, but I’m definitely not there yet.

I like that mindset. 😁

I’m starting to become at peace with the fact that no matter what I write or how much I try to pander to an audience, there will always be at least one person who hates my work and thinks it’s stupid. So I might as well do what I want.
