About 1-2 months in development.
I don't expect to have demo for next few months unfortunately.
My job and rest of things don't leave me much of time to work on this project.
Floppy disc not floppy drive ^_^
So... Efficiency of various ship subsistem will depend on player ability to wite code, overcome hardware limitations, etc...
Assembly code can be written outside game and when it's saved in game folder, it will be represent as floppy drive containing that code. Then player can use it to flash cpu.
Basic idea: player is in spacecraft controlled by 8bit cpus. Every subsystem there has it's own panel and that panel is controlled by cpu. Now player need to reprogram cpus on differet pannels using simplified assembly code.
This code will run on those virtual cpus during game.

I wish I started programming that early.
I hear "war stories" from developers where they needed to do impressive things to squeeze game code and/or hacks just for game to be playable on those machines.

I always liked idea of having spacecraft with low tech with option to write your own code for various parts of craft.
You want sensors to be more efficient? You better optimize your code. Want faster engines? Well optimize fuel mixture with code...
