Some positive tweaks were made on the quality of offsets in comparison to the Council position, but many issues remain.
Thursday, all #MEPs must back these improvements in plenary, so they make it in the final agreement

Europe's nature is absorbing less #CO2. Still nature is our best ally to fix the climate, we just need to let it.
To help us reach our #ClimateGoals EU countries must:
🔒Protect primary & old-growth forests
🌱Rewet peatlands
🌿Forest restoration
🚫Stop land conversion
We know what to do. Let’s do it 💪
🛑We can’t expect nature to absorb more #CO2 while subsidising its destruction
🪵Europe is still subsidising harmful #bioenergy sources and incentivises increased logging, while this will increase #emissions for decades

This figure refers to the time before a solar panel has offset the energy that was necessary to make it
