Hello, I'm not dead I'm just busy reading music pages from Teletext recoveries ๐
Who would like to play the TOTP Daily Trivia Quick from 2nd December '99?
Answers are in the comment below this post!
I've also managed to add thousands of gig dates for bands both big and small to the database. Of course its the information about the little gigs that is the most valuable, as a lot of this information has simply been lost to time.
here's an example of how recovering Teletext can help other databases such as #MusicBrainz
the Planet Sound magazine broadcast on C4 Teletext can provide a lot of previously hidden information, such as providing a more accurate "form" date for this indie band.
Oh yes I think we've had a bit of a chat already. I can do an interview about the archiving side of things, can't get very technical though as that voodoo knowledge is with some of the others ๐
Done! Are you on the discord server? That's where a lot of us recovery addicts hang out
To add to this, in just shy of 100 tapes processed, I've seen a fair few TT based interactive services but this might be the first that I've seen that is actively being used!
I find exampels of "early" interactive TV rather interesting, and Teletext was often used as a means to provide various interactive services. Here is a visual example of someone actually using a mortgage service in Nov 2000! Mr and Mrs Chilvers I hope you got your house!
me finding out there's a SoftwareVault TWO... they're fun little shareware compilation CDs ๐
I'm putting money on the next iteration being HBO MAX+, or maybe HBO MAX with AI
Saw a lot of these cheap at Spitalfields market and was curious ๐คจ. Of course they seem intriguing as they're considerably cheaper than say HMV!
On this one, you mention about some unsavoury racism... sadly it also reappears a few seasons later in S20E05 Dangerous Curves right at the beginning with their Shock Jock bit... wonder how long they kept this up ๐
I fondly remember Megs performance in City of Angle
#bootleg
Productive day, I've got nearly 300 additions to my Internet Archive UK adverts collection ready for upload and finally sourced a remote for one of my VCR's!
Sadly my beloved Panasonic DVD recorder decided it no longer wanted to exist last night, so the substitue is in play now!
I just want fairer prices ๐ญ
I got some great #Jazz CDs from a car boot recently. Many of these were 50p! Great condition and helping me on my exploration journey of this fine genre
check out f4mi too! she's great :D
I added a few more scans of VHS slipcases to my #Pinterest board over the weekend :D
Surprise JayEm ๐
It's not always often I get ads from the 80s, but when I do I love the car ones so much, it tickles my petrolhead sensibilities so well.
This #Renault21 ad is just lovely
Long weekend ahead, more Teletext recovery.
This batch is a mixture of either military documentaries ๐ช or boobies ๐ง
God forbid a man has hobbies eh ๐
Guess I should continue with my additions of @talksimpsonspod.bsky.social then ๐
It's just James Last and Readers Digest boxsets all the way down baby ๐
I'm not dead (yet), been busy improving the amount of viewable #Teletext recoveries on my website.
Check em out :D

Oh FFS! The amount of times it goes "this is cabin luggage size" when it definitely is not!
I always override the simple postage system
Anglia Text is under represented in these screenshots ๐
Let's fix that ๐
The problem with the post office being in a charity shop is this happens... All of these for ยฃ3! ๐ #physicalmedia
bubbly and cheap? ๐
Three CDs from Barnardo's charity shop over the weekend. Really happy with the Pixies CD! Also a Bowie CD and a Jazz Cafe Compilation! ๐
