I don't use my last name online
changed my phone number
(Mom better not give it out)
moved twice and
used PO Boxes for mail
deleted Facebook
(18 years of memories gone)
created new accounts
with unfamiliar usernames
yet he still manages to find me
just so he can tell me
that he hates me
so he can yell out insults
that stab my heart and
give me chills because
he knows where I am now
every cell in my body trembles
(it's hard to type)
I've cried so much because of him
there are no tears left for this
my mind starts racing
making plans for another change
and I sigh with exhaustion
he will never leave me alone
but I have to try

We broke up ten years ago. He never took 'no' for an answer.

After

the room is still
the air heavy
the floor damp with rain
now the storm
has ebbed away
but you
you sit with me
you
you hold my hand
saying nothing
just here
here

Poem written and copyright (c) by Eric Montgomery (@madp03t.bsky.social). All Rights Reserved.

Window open,
rain in the dark.
My hand low at your spine,
slow, certain.

Hours dissolving,
spent in the press of skin.
Sheets twisted beneath our hips.

Thigh to thigh,
you laid there, watching
me unravel.

Through The Nets:

There:
My Other Self with Different Day,
it makes Me nervous to think
this shady pair
so near again.
My Other Self loves Different Day,
he and his many previous dates
often glimpsed
intruding in this neighbourhood:
Me,
all correctly settled down
with my homely,
if mousy Time.

My Other Self and Different Day
are not like us,
as when I peep
My Other Self wears out his life
ribald
in such a shocking selfish fashion,
whereas my plain guise
rarely is disheveled,
and Time much quieter too:
taking up corners,
unwinding without consequence,
dumb
as just a ponder.

My Other Self
even with Different Day,
still seems restless though
and whether he drives her, or she leads him,
they seek grass
forever
one shade greener,
but I will not warn her
or ever say
that My Other Self can not settle
and soon will love
a different
Different Day.

Green menace

infused arteries
chlorophyll pumping
human-nettle-hybrids
lurking between
bare ash trees

being watched
by deep-green eyes
hiding in plain sight
sylvan predators
whetting barbed fangs
on brittle bottles
made of bones

our sins came alive
forged in the flames
of burning rain forests
we created our monsters
in feeding our greed

Corvus Agonistes

Famished
Corvid triad
Poised to
Sup on a
Slain king:

Bones to
House them,
Hair to
Nest them,
Flesh to
Feed them.

Now they
Perch outside our
Window, poised to
Claim us as we
Falter. And

Falter we will – in the
Steady flux of
Mood, air and
Fortune. That

Nevermore mania from
Pluto’s coal-black shore
Occulting the pallid
Cast of Reason. That

Black Shuck
Handle for crippling
Despond shadowing his
Stride through
Whitehall and Chartwell,
Keening upon the heels of
Gallipoli. That

Jackdaw-pun
Insignia of
Family omen in Prague – a
Mind stalling at
Minds sharing his

Inner plight. He
Pictures such people – but cannot
Picture the secret corbie that
Circles his head
Circling theirs.

Absurd, malevolent
Worlds he creates,
Inflecting the
Absurd, malevolent
Worlds we create when we

Fixate on figures of
Light, neglecting the
Night we bracket and
Beget.

Shadows deepen in the
Deathly shallows,
Offsetting that
Fable-fetish of
Unmitigated felicity,
Wherein the
Demonic can gain
Ingress -

City-upon-the-Hill
Beacon for
Ear-cut, hang-witch
Massacre.
