I need to read this level of zen lol
Ah ok maybe it's been picked back up more recently? I just saw they had a January 2026 update and assumed it had been being played the whole time.
I had no idea that Conquest was still being actively maintained and I think that makes it worse 😂 there is already a cedh splinter format that no one plays!
conquesthub.wordpress.com/rules/
Hoo boy the way "cedh should be it's own format" makes my blood boil cannot be good for my health 😂
Full agree. B4 is or should not be related to cedh and I think saying B5 is just "B4 with a meta" is sloppy at best. B4 should be where the strongest casual strategies live, the ones that are back-breaking against precons and weaker strats but don't hold up at all against cedh decks.
Anyway, that's just my thoughts on it, that again, no one asked for and is way too late to the party but dang, I'm disappointed. They really pulled me back in with season 2 and dropped the ball hard with season 3, imo. Did you watch it? Tell me I'm wrong so I can re-watch it from a new angle 😂
of triumph, it was just like yep the baby has a billion dollars and the bad guys escaped. I don't need the good guys to win but a more satisfying final confrontation would have gone a long way, especially because the overall pacing was insanely slow, I was really dying for a payoff.
plot involving the workers for the games but it didn't really pay off, maybe I just didn't get it but she went through all this trouble and it amounted to almost nothing. Same with the boat guys. Essentially nothing worked out for anyone, which is fine, but like not even the bad guys got any sort
From there it was just waiting for this obvious conclusion to pay off, but now we get baby crying sfx over everything. It did kinda manage to kickstart Gi-hun into being an actual character again, but by now it was too little too late and didn't feel genuine. I was also really invested in the side
One, even with the brutality scaled up, you could tell they were not going to kill the baby. So it was kinda immediately obvious the somehow the baby was going to win the whole thing, and that means our pov character would have to sacrifice himself to save it. I think the baby is born in ep 2 so
even for a show that is supposed to be that way. They killed the one gay they had, who was probably the coolest character in the entire show, the main guy barely spoke a word and continued being bad at brooding, and then they introduced the baby. I have many problems with the baby as a story element
So just recently I decided to watch Season 3, hoping I would again be wrong about another season being entirely unnecessary. However, dear reader, I was not wrong this time. It felt like they were fully out of ideas, and by now watching the games was pretty boring. It felt unnecessarily brutal,
and felt like 80s/90s action movies in a really good way. Some characters got to be total bad asses and I remember just being kinda blown away by it. Tension was high and I was fully engaged. Then it ended on a cliffhanger as the whole rebellion fell apart, and I went oh...not another season...
it ultimately felt kinda pointless and contrived. I also felt like the main guy couldn't really pull off brooding, and he was so so good in season 1, so that was kinda disappointing. But then we got to the final 2 episodes and I had to kinda eat my words. The escape episodes were absolutely wild
I went into season 2 expecting to be disappointed. I thought there was no way the story needed to continue and no way it could be done in a satisfying way. To a degree, I was kinda right, but the new characters were interesting enough and I was curious how they'd pull off their plans. Still,
gave you enough to stay interested in without them really having to go much deeper into any other meaning. I do think they did a better job than most at displaying the utter hopelessness of poverty and the way society blames you for the harms it does to you as a poor person. All in all, I loved it.
Season 1 was a somewhat of a return-to-form for the "deadly games" genre that goes back to Battle Royale (and probably further). It was brutal and had a clear and concise story and metaphor. While it only took maybe 20 minutes to understand as a critique of capitalism, the character arcs and games
Here's my untimely series review of Squid Game that no one asked for. SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER warning for all 3 seasons.
