Playing pandemic in class today was a disaster…which made for an additional example of how clear instructions, knowledge, and resources are needed to combat infectious disease! 🦠

Students have seemed indifferent about how politics are impacting our health, but today I glowed when a student brought up NIH funding as we talked about how research and technology help with global life expectancy. Thursday we talk about CDC and WHO! Take that politics!

My thoughts are with all the federal employees who are scared or dreading going into work tomorrow. Thank you for holding the line for the country.

An interesting reflection of misinformation and disinformation on BS. The last two days I've noticed a significant upswing in right-wing conspiracy theories related to H5N1, it seems MAGA folks are actually migrating from Twitter to here. I'm kind of sad that our happy space might be gone.

Last workshop of the year today - it was amazing to celebrate the end of the first semester with all our new faculty! It was nice to give pause for folks to celebrate their accomplishments, and see the semester not just as the accumulation of student learning, but their own teaching growth!
