How about those gas prices? Brutal, huh?

You know what really costs us all a lot?

Car dependency.

Trump just said "the war is basically over, also we want a different ayotollah, and were going to take over the straight of Hormuz" and markets were like "he said the war is over!" immediately reversed 3% and oil dropped $30 a barrel. Our entire economic lives are determined by earth's easiest marks

Londoners maybe don't understand how huge this is because they've got so many stations.

Glasgow has two and they're not set up to be easily interchangeable - Central goes everywhere south, Queen Street everywhere north.

Live updates as fire breaks out in Glasgow city centre and trains cancelled

LATEST: Emergency services are continuing to tackle a major blaze which broke out in Glasgow city centre

If you’re unfamiliar with Glasgow Central, here’s an aerial shot. The red circles dome has just collapsed- that building is the heart of the fire. The red dashed line is roughly where the train lines start. So the good news is hopefully the bulk of rail structures are not currently in danger.

We remember Iraq.

We remember the lies, the manufactured consent and the deaths and destruction that followed.

That’s why it’s disgraceful to see Tony Blair banging the war drums for another illegal war, when he should be locked up in The Hague for the last one.

THIS. If you’re in central Glasgow tonight please close your windows; if you have to be out please wear the best mask you have available. If you can smell it, you’re at risk.

I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.

I am also shocked by the lack of coverage of this fire. It’s so far only affecting the Union Street buildings, but one of those has partially collapsed, from what I can tell backwards into the station. And it’s not yet contained. This is major and more than halfway down BBC’s homepage.

Israeli and the US are ushering in an apocalyptic nightmare in Iran tonight. Over 30 oil depots and refineries have been hit.

It's not like we needed any evidence that Trump has no intention of "freeing the people of Iran", but here's some.

I'll always be MEH the LotR books because someone handed them to me when I was 12 and wanted another fantasy book, but to me fantasy books were about girls with swords and talking horses.

The betrayal I felt at there being no girls in the first 100 pages. I never recovered. 😂

“Not all men” they say.

But it’s the men who are sworn to protect us.

It’s the men at the highest levels of government.

It’s the men who are police.

It’s the men in your home.

A woman is killed every 10 min by someone she knows.

It’s an epidemic.

Dozens of innocent people in Lebanon have been killed as the Israeli Forces are searching for a navigator Ron Arad who went missing in 1986 after ejecting from his F4 fighter jet and pronounced dead in 2008. 👀

Dozens of Lebanese deaths for one apparently dead Israeli.

'Deliberate', not 'reckless'.

Israel has been attacking UNIFIL troops in Lebanon since 1978.

And on orders from Israel and the United States they will be withdrawn in 2027 so that it would be even easier for Israel to attack Lebenon.

Today I want to talk about Jess’ Rule and Martha’s Rule, two new initiatives across NHS England that I think are really important and you should know about.

The Most Chilling Detail in the U.S. Attack on an Iranian Naval Ship The Iranian warship was taking part in an international exercise with many other countries—including the United States.

This is a chilling crime. A shame on our country. The Iranian ship was unarmed. The US knew this. The sailors were murdered by our navy, and the survivors were left to die at sea.

It is so damning of US news media that so many outlets refuse to just straight up say that Senator Tim Sheehy assaulted an activist.

He did not "help" Capitol police. They did not need his help. He wanted to assault the guy and did. He should resign.

Dear Shabana,
I notice today that you referred to me in your speech on immigration at the IPPR think tank.
You said: “A party leader should not be on the beaches of France encouraging people to
make a perilous crossing on small boats.”
I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised especially after the hateful Labour campaign in Gorton
and Denton, but this is just the latest in a string of lies peddled by a discredited Government
who intentionally fan the flames of racism and division.
When I went to Calais, I was not there to encourage people to travel to the UK. I was there
to see at first hand the suffering your Government and successive Governments have done
in demonising migrants in a pathetic bid to pander to the base instincts of Reform and the
flawed strategy of Morgan McSweeney.
As you will know, if you even bothered to research my visit instead of taking Reform talking
points, I was there to witness the brutality of families living in tents in freezing temperatures. I
filled water tanks and picked up litter.
What that visit did do is confirm my belief that if we are to smash the boat gangs and stop
the boats, we need to offer safer and managed routes for migrants to come to this country.
Showing compassion as a politician is not a crime. In fact, we need to see much more of it.
It reminded me of a young MP who in October 2015 spent three days in Lesbos helping
migrants fleeing war-torn Syria. She posted videos on X, talked about handing out water and
croissants to refugees and food parcels.
When she returned to the UK, she wrote a very moving piece in the New Statesman. She
said “we have to work with our European partners and create new, safe, and legal routes for
refugees to get to Europe. We cannot abandon them to their fate, left as prey for smugglers
whilst risking death on the seas.”
She said “maybe we can make ourselves feel better by saying no-one is making them get on
the boats. And again, the Home Secretary is not entirely wrong when …

Dear Shabana,

Let's clear some things up around migration and remember we're talking about people's lives.

US Supreme Court declines to hear dispute over copyrights for AI-generated material The U.S. Supreme Court declined on Monday to take up the issue of whether art generated by artificial intelligence can be copyrighted under U.S. law, turning ‌away a case involving a computer scienti...

This is phenomenal. A.I. 'art' is slop, anti-creative, and deserves no copyright protection. None of it. If you use A.I. in the creative space, you are not a creative, and you don't deserve protection for what you had a machine spit out. A very rare SCOTUS win.

The Prime Minister is asked about abolishing leasehold.

He answers on management companies and ground rents that makes it really clear Labour have no intention of abolishing leasehold.

5 million people stuck paying service charges because Labour stand with property developers.
