I’m coming up on that dreaded time in every single person’s life.
The Condiment Replacement Grocery Shop
When all condiments align to be empty at the same time, so you have to replace them all in one go. It arrives but once an age, but when it does, it arrives with usury and weary resignation.

Millennial culture was being convinced needing to go “day to night” quickly with a spare set of accessories, shoes, and, perhaps, a top swap, was going to be a huge part of adulthood

I am losing it over this “””hoodie“”” designed exclusively for business bros going day to night. I need to go to sleep, man.

Y'all, I have no words.
I desperately need to know who in their right mind thought there was a market for this?
Has anyone ever chose to do this?

I'm not a voice actor at all but I do think it would be fun to play a goon that yells "It's da Bat!" or a civilian saying "Thank you Spider-man!" at least once in my life. Something like that. Specifically for Batman or Spider-man, the two most fun comic book names to yell.

Books are bad now and I blame the Internet
YouTube video by Amy Shira Teitel
Really awesome dive into the current literacy (illiteracy?) problem. It's not just "booktok bad," it's really detailed, and I enjoyed the whole thing. Check it out!
Please, for the love of gods, read a book. Encourage your friends to read a book. A whole book.

And while you’re at it — especially now:
Get 👏🏻 a 👏🏻 library 👏🏻 card 👏🏻!
And use it! Active cardholders and checkout numbers are a large part of how they justify and acquire budget out of the taxes you are already paying.

Little known way you can support your favorite authors: request your library get a copy of their book. Most libraries have a request process. Put in a request for that book. Via Libby/OverDrive, too.

All the Birds in the Sky is one of my newest all-time favorite books and landed on the very short list of books that broke my heart in the bittersweet way only kintsugi will do as a repair method.
You should get this and read it.

There’s so much to be furious about, but possibly the most inane is Trump trying to slap his name on the Kennedy center, and remodel it — which having seen his gaudy, hideous, horrible fucking taste, I know just means a lot of gold and is going to fuck the acoustics in the space and I’m just livid.

You think anyone who has filmed a Day In The Life actually set up the camera before bed, and let it run to catch them waking up the next morning? Or do we think it’s always a get up > set up > get back into bed > mime wake up scenario? There’s gotta be like one person who did it the long way, right?

Legit question: Does McDonald’s own Connecticut? Why is the only food advertised on any freeway sign McDonald’s? Some specific rest stop exits also say Subway, but what the hell?

Friend has on an episode of MacGuyver as I come in, and MacG is hanging with a black mom and son.
And just as I’m about to open my mouth and ask “Is MacGuyver… black? in this one?” I realize I was thinking of Quantum Leap…

*Someone* out there has to have found a piece of the Agro Crag at a garage sale or a thrift store, right? It has to have happened at least once by now. If not recently.
That’s my thrifting holy grail, I think.

There’s a theory, with reasonable historical reference to other bird names or contexts… that all the gifts might be birds?! So that solves the maids, ladies, and lords ownership problem

Hate to break it to you friend… but the rings… are also birds 😔
Ring-necked pheasants probably *would* fetch some pennies to feed the others, but then you’d be over a month short on your daily bird diet (there’d be 40 of them).

Thankfully it sounds like they’re alive, most of them birds are verb-ing.
But then there’s a whole different issue of feeding 364 birds received over the course of 12 days… 🤔

Just occurred to me if the 12 Days gifts are cumulative (I.e. on day three you receive three hens, two doves, and a partridge, in addition to the partridges on day one and two, and the doves on day two), you’d have enough to eat a bird a day for the entire year. 364 birds (minus Christmas Day).

Do I have any history nerds who know about historic Christmas ghost story traditions? I’m looking for works that predate Dickens’ reboot of the tradition, stuff people read to their families around the fire as entertainment during the holidays. I’ll ask my librarians too, but Google sucks now so…

Is molasses the Canadian Vegemite?
I never meet anyone who eats straight molasses, or uses it as a condiment, unless they’re Canadian or family from Canada. Maybe some northern states that touch Canada?
People look at me like 🙅🏻♀️😬☹️ when I say I love molasses on toast, which Mémé brought me up on.
