Ring-necked pheasants probably *would* fetch some pennies to feed the others, but then you’d be over a month short on your daily bird diet (there’d be 40 of them).
Thankfully it sounds like they’re alive, most of them birds are verb-ing.
But then there’s a whole different issue of feeding 364 birds received over the course of 12 days… 🤔
Just occurred to me if the 12 Days gifts are cumulative (I.e. on day three you receive three hens, two doves, and a partridge, in addition to the partridges on day one and two, and the doves on day two), you’d have enough to eat a bird a day for the entire year. 364 birds (minus Christmas Day).
Do I have any history nerds who know about historic Christmas ghost story traditions? I’m looking for works that predate Dickens’ reboot of the tradition, stuff people read to their families around the fire as entertainment during the holidays. I’ll ask my librarians too, but Google sucks now so…

I never meet anyone who eats straight molasses, or uses it as a condiment, unless they’re Canadian or family from Canada. Maybe some northern states that touch Canada?
