Loving the 22 year old barista organizing with @moworkers.org and schooling the @nytimes.com on power.
Still lots of questions and few answers about the Armory Data Center. Time for a one year moratorium so we can pursue regulation that will benefit all working people in St. Louis. #moworkers

Dear Elon,
Fuck you.

"On the answers to those questions will turn not only the fate of the union movement for decades to come, but of a multiracial American democracy in which the right to collective bargaining has served as an essential pillar for almost a century."

What do electeds have to do with it? Shouldn't you be looking for major unions signing on?

"Ending the IRIS program means the City would pull the rug out from under me and hundreds of my fellow IRIS drivers — many who are immigrants and people of color supporting extended families and now face the grim prospect of unemployment."
Bakar Mohamed, IRIS driver and #StandUpKC leader
“I urge each of you to join me in pushing for an increase in service so we can have world class transit.”
@atucomms.bsky.social Local 1287 President Nic Miller
"Many of us were not born disabled.... Many of us are veterans and retired persons. We gave our time and title to the American dream and don’t want to be discarded. Transit is a way of life for us."

“We should see [our] hard-earned dollars reflected in the systems we rely on — like our public transit system — which we need not just to survive, but to give us a chance at thriving.”

Joint Statement to Mayor Quinton Lucas and KCMO City Council: Reject KCATA Service Cuts and Fully Fund Our Transit Whether we are Black, white, or Brown; East of Troost or West of Troost, North of the river or South of the river, we want our communities to be connected, inclusive and vibrant. As organizations representing thousands of Kansas City residents, we write to express our deep concern about the city's current budget proposal for the Kansas City Area Transit Authority (KCATA). The current budget you are considering will cut 13 major bus routes and up to 175 good-paying union bus driver and maintenance jobs, as well as reducing frequency, operating hours and weekend service.
It will also suspend the IRIS microtransit program and eliminate the jobs of as many as 100 IRIS drivers. Workers, riders, and our environment cannot afford these cuts. These cuts would create a transit crisis in our city at precisely the wrong moment. As we work to build a more equitable Kansas City and prepare for increased visibility during the 2026 World Cup, dismantling our public transportation infrastructure sends the wrong message about our priorities and values. We urge you to keep our public transit system whole by fully funding KCATA’s budget in the upcoming fiscal year and rejecting any and all proposed service cuts for the transit agency as you finalize the City budget this month.
Our joint statement calling on Mayor Lucas and City Council to reject KCATA service cuts and fully fund our transit.
