This delay is particularly brutal - the motion was a response to Agustín Beltrán being killed on his bike. Multiple family members spoke in favour, and Council passed this unanimously. Now 3.5 years later the city has upgraded outrageously few vehicles and recommends discontinuing altogether.
Christopher's endorsements in the 2018 election, when I was first really getting into local politics, were hugely helpful to me, so being included in his dream slate now really means a lot.

Disappointed but not surprised to see that the 2023 bus priority motion from @sarahkirbyyung.bsky.social has been scaled back and the 2024 bus priority motion from @christineboyle.bsky.social has been postponed.
Might be time to start asking ABCers if they still have confidence in mayor Sim, and if they plan to follow him into the fall election.
Several previously passed road safety motions are recommended to be postponed or scaled back at the March 10th Vancouver Council mtg, "with the objective of freeing up staff capacity in order to better implement Council’s priorities"
This is what happens when you starve the city budget.

Nobody around the mayor thinks "spend multiple days explaining why you falsely accused a councillor of dealing drugs on Christmas because you uncritically believed shit a member of the public waived at you" is a good PR strategy
Buses can be SO MUCH better than streetcars; it comes down to the service design. People just want fast, frequent, reliable transit with few transfers and short walking distances. The DC Streetcar was FREE and people still didn't ride it because it was worse on all those metrics than the bus.
In light of Sim saying that he said Orr dealt drugs based on seeing a mystery photo from a mystery person, I think it’s important to reflag this.
If this is an uncharitable interpretation, the mayor is free to provide more details of how he ended up seeing such a photo and believing it.

Ken Sim used Chinese language media to spread phony smears about an opposition councillor.
Now Sim refuses to engage with how corrosive these sorts of dirty tricks are to democracy, and is apparently refusing to apologize on the platform he used to spread the lies.
