there are things our white colleagues can do and it’s considered bold, funny, and relatable and it doesn’t hurt their brand.
when a woman of color does the same thing, suddenly it’s “not polished” or “not classy”
even touching on this is a calculated risk
i agree in theory. and most of the time i am just me.
but in practice, being “just yourself” as a sex worker who is also a woman of color, comes with different stakes. the pressure isn’t imaginary.
every time i go to post something: not polished enough… not perfect enough.
the reality is the pressure to be exceptional just to earn a fraction is exhausting. and some of us were handed a smaller margin for error from the start.

absolutely! and thank you for extending the thought for me. i posted that, ran to the lab to spray tan some clients, and lost the rest of the plot afterwards.
i agree with you: resistance works precisely because it’s persistent. the goal of pressure is exhaustion & the counter is not disappearing.

this doesn’t feel like coincidence in #minneapolis anymore. it feels like pressure by design: wear people down, make them afraid, make resistance feel pointless.

so all you need is date, time of day, and the location.
the time of day is a bit more difficult. sometimes you have to scour historical records, wiki, etc., to see if they reference the time of day. if the time is unknown/can’t find it then you use midnight.

the mess though is a lot of big planets don’t agree. so there’s constant friction btwn how the city sees itself (progressive) & what’s happening underneath (conservative in structure)
