In February 2025, the Dynacom Tankers fleet encompassed 64 vessels, the Sea Traders company had a fleet of 5 bulk carriers and Dynagas had a fleet of 21 LNG carriers. In total his current fleet stands at 91 vessels. George Prokopiou is overseeing a newbuilding program for 88 vessels.[
George Prokopiou bought his first ship in 1971 at the age of 25y, a 55,000-tonne tanker, Pennsylvania. He is the founder of Dynacom Tankers (established in 1991), Sea Traders and Dynagas.
While most shipping companies paused Gulf transits due to the Iran conflict, George Prokopiou’s Dynacom Tankers kept sending vessels via Hormuz. This video via MarineTraffic shows Dynacom’s fleet movements in the area since Feb 27.

The physics of LNG combustion are totally different in a marine environment than on land.
The damaged vessel images show both severe structural damage and evidence of ignition.
Importantly, VCE risk depends heavily on geometry, mixing, and confinement. Many LNG releases simply burn off as a flash fire or disperse.
If ignition occurs while a large portion of the cloud is within the flammable range, a rapid combustion wave can produce a blast and fireball.
Ignition can occur from many sources present in maritime environments: electrical arcs, hot exhaust surfaces, static discharge, or open flame.
The second mechanism is Vapor Cloud Explosion (VCE). This occurs if a large methane cloud forms, mixes into the flammable range, and then encounters an ignition source.
RPT is a physical explosion, not combustion. It does not require oxygen and may occur without any fire at all. The result can be a sharp pressure wave and violent spray of vaporized LNG, but typically no sustained flame unless methane later ignites.
The heat transfer causes violent boiling and fragmentation of the LNG. Water flashes into steam and LNG rapidly vaporizes.

Two different physical processes are often confused in discussions of LNG incidents:
• Rapid Phase Transition (RPT)
• Vapor Cloud Explosion (VCE)
Rapid Phase Transition (RPT) occurs when extremely cold LNG contacts warmer water.
3rd LNG tanker with full cargo, who was on his way to Europe, is diverting to Asia as their main LNG supplier Qatar has been shut down. (Unrelated to attack on LNG tanker in Med). Asia is offering more for LNG than Europe
Other Russian LNG tankers have halted their planned transit of the Mediterranean and are opting to sail around Africa gcaptain.com/russian-shad...

Belgian Crude Oil tanker CYPRES on the move... Other Belgian vessels at anchor or moored near UAE ports
The AIS of ships waiting outside the Gulf indicates an important fact: the fact that unladen tankers off Fujairah and Oman are still sticking around implies that ship owners consider there is a good prospect of the Iranian (and ship insurance) grip over the Straits of Hormuz being broken soon.
Footage of Iranian USV hitting Sonangol Namibe, a 274-meter Bahamas-flagged crude tanker anchored near Khor Al-Zubair, Iraq’s primary oil loading port.
The Belgian Navy doesn't have frigates available to send to the Eastern Med. Don't worry. The Belgian Merchant Navy is in the Persian Gulf. We'll let you know when it's safe again.... #MerchantNavy (sorry, I couldn't resist some friendly ribbing)
Yeah. I need to see what's going on. Had some other stuff that needed my attention. Thanks for the update
