Drive My Car (Haruki Murakami / Ryusuke Hamaguchi) is one of my favourite films- a story about repression, connection and rebirth of oneβs self.
Being able to visit this place in Hiroshima was very special to me.
These 40 hours of unsatisfying work is plenty of time to think about and plan what do to the rest of the week, and some motivation do sit down to something meaningful.
Not to mention forced boredom. Never underestimate its power! Best ideas come to mind when you're forced to do boring shit.
My point is: don't *only* post or Bsky or other social media.
Make your own website to present yourself and your work in the say *you* see fit. If you don't have means to make a website, post on platforms like FA or Flickr, that don't have a feed and where you display your work on your terms.
Needless to say, I don't like that at all. I'm not primarily a visual artist, though I do some photography on the side, but I believe in personal pages and presenting ourselves in a way we see fit.
I'm working on my own page at the moment, the first thing I want to share there are music reviews.
If you're a visual artist and post here, whatever you put online is begging for others' attention as a tiny rectangle on an endless feed. No matter how much effort you put into it, it's reduced to that rectangle embedded in a regular post.
Here we don't have a say in how we're presenting our work.
At first, the fact that you could post so easily and effortlessly on social media felt like a good thing. The barriers were gone, anyone could've had their own website-like thing.
But when we post on social media, it's us trying to fit into their framework, bending backwards for the algorithm.
a note to self from exactly a year ago: January doesn't last the whole year
How does it feel?
To be without a home?
Like a complete unknown?
The humidity+cold combo here is dramatic.
I did laundry three days ago. Hopefully my trousers will finally dry today π
It's crucial to know the enemy's name, and the enemy's name is neoliberalism.
Losing two friends I knew back from high school times in one year feels awful. They aren't replaceable.
Maybe it'd feel easier if at least there were some reasons other than just growing apart over time. If feelings can't be rekindled, it would at least be nice to have a final hug before departing.
Losing long time friends, and I'm taking 10+ years, is such a stupid thing and such a shame in general.
I've come to really appreciate the value of connections lasting across time. It's not that making new friends isn't easy - it's that the longer we have them, the more valuable they are.
Ξ§ΟΟΞ½ΞΉΞ± Οολλά! It was Epiphany yesterday here in Athens.

Another video, another song! This arrangement of Kid A was transcendent. I -need- this released officially.
