a song about being transgender is really just a song about change, self-actualization, loving yourself for who you are in spite of what others tell you to be. things i would hope are fairly universal ideals! i'm not asking you to be trans but i am asking you to love yourself

The circle speaks in speech bubbles with only vertical lines: "I-- that's NOT what I meant!" As the text travels down the page, we can see a number of thumbtacks floating in otherwise blank areas. Circle continues: "I mean that... she's clearly worried about giving a good impression," - interrupted by star, "She pointed a STAFF at us." "Granted!" replies circle. Below that is three panels resembling events on previous pages, each held in place by thumbtacks. One thumbtack holds the first panel, of the crow-like hood ornament of the Corvone Stellesta, as seen on page 3. Under it, circle says "But she matched our energy about the hunk of junk I'd be working on,". Panel 2, two thumbtacks: A close-up of Pituccia's face, as seen on page 7 - but with one glistening, glassy eye open, and her articulated mouth resolved into a smile. The wizard, off-screen, says "sorry. i-- hold that thought." as the gunstaff (also off-screen) continues to ring like a telephone. Sparkles gently waft out of the scroll tube. Panel 2: The mechanitch has had enough, and sets herself falling backwards. Meanwhile, the ringing suddenly becomes a klik, then a new voice is introduced. It says "Hello~! Cavalier Occulting Inventory Speaking!" Panel 3: A large from-above view of the mechanitch hitting the ground on her back with a WHUMP, clutching the scroll tube in both hands. Her hair is a mess and there is tension in her brow. She is slowly tuning out the conversation taking place nearby, with the speech bubbles becoming darker and darker shaded, and obstructed by her elbow - but the dialogue that *can* be read goes like this: The wizard leads, saying "hey, this is Mg. erstwham." In response: "Aggie! Hii! What Can I Do You For?" "-fraid it's another long distance, mikh. can you charge a writing desk to my corporate account?" "Of Course Dear! Please Hold!"

The first visual on the page is the mechanitch lying on her back in the same pose as the previous page, right next to her bag and the front bumper of the epynomous wizard's car. There are two apparent conversations - one between the wizard and the staff, which has speech bubbles entirely shaded in black with no visible text content, and another with a pair of strange speech bubbles which are similar to the mechanitch's. The first speaker has only the vertical sides and corners of the bubble, and says "Hey, sweetheart. You there?" After a beat, the second speaker remarks "...hey." in a speech bubble with only horizontal sides and corners. First: "You holding up okay?" Second: "What do you think?" with emphasis on the "you". First: "I mean." (beat) "I can feel this tension. But I'm asking you." The second visual is a silhoutte, again from above, of the mechanitch in the same pose. In her head is a bold-edged circle in a vortex, patterned with vertical lines. In the location hearts are generally placed in fiction, off-center in her chest, is a bold-edged seven-pointed star, inside a squiggle, patterned with horizontal lines. On one end is a crystal slightly bigger than her fist would be, held in place by helical tendrils of carved wood. The other end is a rifle stock with visible woodgrain pattern. She grasps it both sides of the center mechanism, a milled iron chamber with ironsight above and trigger below. Panel 2: All else fades away. The wizard clicks her gunstaff in half, exposing the loading chamber. A few sparks fly out. Panel 3 is an extended sequence of the wizard loading the gunstaff with a little glass capsule. It initially focuses on her holding the capsule by her dark nails, which contains a fairy resembling a stick insect; it's not the focus of the panel, but you can also see that she has self harm scars on the forearm exposed by holding the hand up. The stick-fairy declares, in a terrible approximation of cursive: "Hello there! I'm a Tiny Leyline Model! I'm here to help!" The wizard retorts "no ya ain't" as she pushes its capsule into the chamber. It responds "My mistake! You're correct, I'm" and then is immediately cut off by the harsh, crunching action of closing the chamber on the capsule. Subtlety is dead.

Panel 2 is another perspective, focusing on the mechanitch - she has been lost in thought this entire time, but snaps out of it with the first words of the spell. She turns her head quickly to face the wizard, hair following behind, a look of abject fear on her face. A little further away, out of her view, a weak, formless shape starts appearing on the dusty ground. Panel 3 is a close-up of the wizard, hat's brim over the tops of her sunglasses. One lens continues to have the reticule in it, but you can also - barely - see her eye visible behind it, for the first time in this many pages. The mechanitch is extremely tensed up, having scooted backwards but not been able to get up. In each hand she's holding both her bag - dragged out of percieved line of fire - and the scroll tube, which she was already holding. The formless shape on the ground where the wizard was pointing her gun has clarified itself into something akin to a summoning circle, with shifting lines. It will continue to rotate every panel it is visible in. The wizard's staff intones, in a voice not unlike an answering machine: "Please. Dial. A. Line.", with each word in its own rectangular textbox. Panel 2 is compositionally identical to panel 1. Now that the apparent danger has passed, the mechanitch has let the tension out of most of her limbs - but continues to hold the scroll tube aloft, subconciously inluenced by the wizard's previous suggestion to give the associated deime extra respect. She screams "YOU POINTED A- A LOADED STAFF AT ME?!??!", speech bubble obscuring the wizard's face as she uses a single finger to interact with a holographic dial floating near the crystal on the end. For at least the rest of the page, underneath the wizard and mechanitch's conversation, the staff will continue to speak the digits the wizard is dialing. The number is not important to the narriative - it begins with a 5 in loose homage to all those 555 area codes in US media - but it is noteworthy how one of the digits spoken is "Del". The mechanitch responds"WHAT DO YOU THINK", with underline emphasis on the THINK.

Page 14 of a pencil sketchbook. Panel 1 is a wide shot of the state of affairs. The wizard remains in her intimidating, gunstaff-firing pose, the car behind her. The mechanitch is extremely tensed up, having scooted backwards but not been able to get up. In each hand she's holding both her bag - dragged out of percieved line of fire - and the scroll tube, which she was already holding. The formless shape on the ground where the wizard was pointing her gun has clarified itself into something akin to a summoning circle, with shifting lines. It will continue to rotate every panel it is visible in. The wizard's staff intones, in a voice not unlike an answering machine: "Please. Dial. A. Line.", with each word in its own rectangular textbox. Panel 2 is compositionally identical to panel 1. Now that the apparent danger has passed, the mechanitch has let the tension out of most of her limbs - but continues to hold the scroll tube aloft, subconciously inluenced by the wizard's previous suggestion to give the associated deime extra respect. She screams "YOU POINTED A- A LOADED STAFF AT ME?!??!", speech bubble obscuring the wizard's face as she uses a single finger to interact with a holographic dial floating near the crystal on the end. For at least the rest of the page, underneath the wizard and mechanitch's conversation, the staff will continue to speak the digits the wizard is dialing. The number is not important to the narriative - it begins with a 5 in loose homage to all those 555 area codes in US media - but it is noteworthy how one of the digits spoken is "Del".
