but i just often wonder to what extent weโve changed our consumption patterns and as a result exacerbated our unhappiness because our desired consumption has expanded and thus a larger share of it feels unobtainable.
anyways. end of random thought share.
i would include in that shifting of preferences things like deciding to get a nicer car than one would have normally gotten because they were spending less in other areas due to shifts from the pandemic (e.g., travel, etc.).
obviously, everything is more expensive(some things way more than others),
That is, 2020 caused preferences to shift to more of certain services + buying junk online & less of other services (activities, etc.); then we all got habituated to our new preferences & added pre-2020 ones on top of that (activities, dining out, commuting, etc.), rather than revert to 2019 norms.
spend a lot of time thinking about cost-of-living issues & the economic shifts caused by the pandemie. not at all saying that thereโs not an issue, but i question if part of the pain is that 2020-21 changed consumption & when we returned to โnormalโ our new preferences got overlayed on pre-2020 ones
