The ruins of the 12th century Hovedøya Abbey on a sunny day, surrounded by melting ice.
Selfie on the B1 ferry.
Munch's "Under the Stars" painting.
In Gründerløkka, a view of the painted walls of Ingensteds from a bridge.
Had the most wonderful time in Oslo giving a talk on methodological nationalism in Alejandra Mancilla's Dynamic Territory project. Managed to squeeze in a ferry trip to Hovedøya (s/o to Andrea Foss for the rec!), a trip to the Munch gallery, and a wander round Grünerløkka too.

How do institutions communicate about #migration?
With @jamesrdennison.bsky.social & @mcduarte.bsky.social, we built a database of migration communication campaigns in Europe.
We’re expanding it now. Do you know a campaign? Please take this 1-min survey.

Just putting it out there: I'm at a career stage where I'm keen to get some journal editorial experience. Tell your pals.

Congrats - sounds super interesting & timely.
It's officially publication day for our book, The Way Out. Sam and I have worked on this since we first put our heads together in 2019, and it's fair to say that the context shifted under our feet as we were writing and thinking.

In November, the government announced plans to amend the British Nationality Act to make citizenship harder to obtain.
So after migrants meet new ILR requirements, they'll wait longer, pay more, jump through MORE hoops.
🧵 Here's why this is unfair… /1

Lastly, I'll add that the experience of co-authoring with Matt was great. As a grad student, it was invaluable experience, and really helped set my expectations about what productive co-authorship could look like.
(My own position is most thoroughly articulated in this STP piece: www.pdcnet.org/soctheorprac...)
As a PSA: I was a PhD candidate when we co-authored this (!!) and Matt & I have slightly different views on some aspects of this topic. Though we overlap on many things, some parts of the paper mostly reflect his views; others better reflect mine.
📣 The chapter Matt Lister and I co-authored on refugee family reunion is now out in the Handbook of Migration Ethics. Our paper surveys several important questions & issues worthy of further consideration in this under-explored topic.
