I love Dorothy Cobble's "For the Many" and Patricia Romney's "We Were There"! There's also some great recent work on feminism and US imperialism like "Christian Imperial Feminism" by Gale Kenny and "The Feminist Pacific" by Rumi Yasutake :)
A forum on "U.S.-Mexican Relations and Catholic Activism" was officially published in the Winter 2025 issue of Diplomatic History.

βThe push to make Canada part of the U.S. reached a fever pitch following passage of the highly protectionist McKinley Tariff in 1890.β
For @time.com I discuss the last time the GOP tried to use tariffs to annex Canada.
*spoiler: it didnβt go well

Go birds?
The National Security Archive, Canada Declassified, and the CIA Electronic Reading Room! And maybe FRUS?
Thank you!!!
I read Moby-Dick last year expecting to be bored out of my mind and I think it might now be one of my favourite books and I legitimately think about it alot!
Slightly different but Mati Diop's film "Dahomey" is great and I think could spark conversation with students! The edited collection "Museum Activism" by Janes and Sandell has some good essays as well π
We pulled an ad from the New York Times because they wouldnβt let us talk about Israelβs genocide in Gaza. Hereβs some great coverage from @msainato.bsky.social at @theguardian.com: www.theguardian.com/media/2025/j...

Thank you!
Zombie Studies might be of interest? Off the top of my head: Zombie Talk ed. by David Castillo et al or "Slaves, Cannibals, and Infected Hyper-Whites: The Race and Religion of Zombies" by Elizabeth McAlister. (Though not sure if they're all historians!)
Very important archival research happening at Swarthmore today ποΈ
I think this is the greatest book ever written?
I'm really partial to "Duress" by Ann Stoler!
Great suggestion, thank you! I will reach out to their folks π
CFP The Archival is Political We invite interdisciplinary submissions that address the βarchival turnβ in feminist and queer studies. Submissions may include essays, commentary, criticism, fiction, poetry, and artwork from any discipline. We particularly welcome work that connects archival practice to activism, whether this be archival collections focused on activist history or archival collection as a political project for historical redress. Other topics may include digital archives, fictional archives, archival silences and violence, archival management, and information sciences. Together these contributions will reflect the contradictions of, and aspirations for, feminist and queer archives. For manuscript preparation details, please see our website at: https://irw.rutgers.edu/about-rejoinder Please send completed written work (2,000-2,500 words max), jpegs of artwork, and short bios to irw@sas.rutgers.edu with βRejoinder Submissionβ in the subject line by December 15, 2023.
