A cartoon from the 1950βs thatβs more relevant than ever π
I love how Mary Worth can drag out literally months of characters talking about socks or whatever, but today suddnely Mary has a cat?
Whoa
Good point. I was there recently for Thought Bubble, but didn't do my usual bookstore check when I went through Heathrow!
Yeah, bizarre. I'd never heard of it. Came out in 2010 apparently
Always curious about what comics are at airport book stores. This is terminal E in O'hare. Kind of a random selection of stuff. Love the Dog Man table tent tho!
A comic panel of Uncle Scrooge thinking "what a horrible fate to befall the world!"
Watching this 1988 documentary about the making of Akira while I draw. Otomo looks like he's about 12 in this hahaha.

Million-dollar idea for DC Comics: the Batman of Roku City
Spent a ton of time trying to get a panel to look good, but ultimately just had to scrap it and try something else--which I think looks decent now. Sometimes it be that way, ya know?
Oh damn, RIP ClΓ©ment Oubrerie--known in the US mainly for Aya of Yop City and the The Golden Compass adaptation. Amazing cartoonist.

Men think about the Shi'ar Empire at least once a day.
This Klaus Janson show in NYC looks great!
One of the few downsides to being out here in Palm Springs for the winter vs. Columbus is that I can't just pop over to NYC for the day for stuff like this π’

With Peanuts, pretty sure no. I think Schulz did some covers, but interiors were Jim Sasseville and other folks. @benjaminlclark.com ,is this correct?
Wow, very cool!
I didn't see a large-scale show of comics art until the Masters of American Comics
show in 2005.
Yep!
Couple comics-related pickups from Palm Springs vintage market this AM: catalog from the exhibit High and Low, first major Museum show in the US to feature comics art. Also, L'il Abner scarf. You'll feel great wearing it just knowing that you can't be as horrible a human being as Al Capp was!
Presumably these guys would be deployed.

Operation Epic FURRY would be vastly preferable.
Kinda kicking myself for not driving in to LA last night to see Al Jardine. He did BEACH BOYS LOVE YOU start to finish.

Damn... Jeet Heer with the Moebius hot takes.
Not sure, though, about the Hiroshima Toyo Carp x PokΓ©mon uniforms tho. Kinda looks like they've got a red Pikachu stuffed in their pants.
The NPB (Japanese baseball) x 30ty anniversary PokΓ©mon colab goes hard, y'all.

So this Rocketeer comic apparently has an appearance by Tintin and Snowy in it--presumably bc they think they've entered the public domain. Curious how this will play out if Moulinsart gets wind of it. IF Tintin is in fact in the public domain, it's only the LAND OF THE SOVIETS version.
