The cover of THE MISEDUCATION OF CAROLINE BINGLEY by Lindz McLeod. Two women in regency dress sit on a pink picnic blacket. The blonde woman in the light yellow dress offers a bright red apple to the dark-haired woman in the purple dress. Behind them we can see a lake and in the far distance, two horses stand in front of a grand house.
"There's an enjoyable slow burn romance that heats up in a very satisfactory way... A bouncy, energetic feel-good take that's infinitely less mean-spirited than the source text and offers happiness to far more people."
- KJ Charles (!) on my forthcoming book, The Miseducation of Caroline Bingley ❤️

I often wait as long as possible to get my hair cut until I’m in crisis mode and my hair is too heavy and hurts. I said “Do something fun, it’s almost spring, the world’s on fire, yolo.”
Hache Pueyo on Cabaret in Flames: Why her Guls aren't undead, how trauma creates labyrinths, and the "inescapable cultural baggage" of being a South American writer. From disability in fantasy to spider-beings in love

I can finally SCREAAAM about this! New bingo square unlocked for me as an editor at @ruadanbooks.bsky.social !
This novella is so wild and so cool. Imagine an vampire story with the vibe of a European 90s action movie. If that makes sense. (It will.)
Not a writer but I am a reviewer of short fiction and I will not cover any magazines that accept work that has genAI involved in any capacity, including illustrations. Nor will I cover writers that use genAI in any capacity.
Hey, something nice recently. "On Planetary Palliative Care" (2023), published by Interzone Digital, is getting translated to French for Bifrost Magazine/Éditions du Bélial'. It was a quiet piece in 2023 but still finding new homes. Worth guarding rights as a writer. Never know where things end up.
IT’S HERE ‼️ And yes I cried when I hit send on the issue for subscribers. I hope you love this issue as much as we do.
Happy Women in Horror Month!

It's time! Nominations are now open for the 2026 Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction, which will be given to a work of imaginative fiction, published in 2025, that reflects the concepts and ideas that were central to Ursula’s own work.
Folks, I’m very proud of this (long) new story. If you can find a spare half hour today, I’d love for you to tuck into Basking in Glory. @courtlandavenue.bsky.social was such an incredible editor to work with! FFO: glory holes, bugs fighting, Midwest sex shops

Genuinely chuffed to see my @uncannymagazine.bsky.social novelette "The Life and Times of Alavira the Great as Written by Titos Pavlou and Reviewed by Two Lifelong Friends" be a @bsfa.bsky.social finalist alongside such great authors!!
bsfa.co.uk/bsfa-awards-...
Short break from insanity to share that UNCERTAIN SONS is a BSFA finalist. A testament to @undertow.bsky.social's thoughtful work more than anything else that the book has gone anywhere. Thanks to them and to folks who support indies like UP. Means a lot. Congrats to all the finalists.
"The notion of making a living with A.I.-generated books appears to be based on the belief algorithms will be serving up book slop the same way we are force-fed other kinds of slop"
I'm still not over losing my job as a book reviewer. Here's why we need book critics:

Thank you to @authorsabb.bsky.social heroes @beccacoffindaffer.bsky.social and Ed Underhill, we have some slides that can be shared by anyone about this, with particular reps to target. Let's kill this bill in committee.
Don't be fooled by this bill's name-- this is a book banning bill that will exclude LGBTQ books from all public schools NATIONWIDE.
Call your congresspeople and tell them to VOTE NO on this nakedly bigoted book banning bullshit.

I didn't sleep at all last night cause I was anxious about calling health insurance and hospital billing this morning, and now that it's over, I am still anxious over it all PLUS extremely tired.
But I did buy books today, so that helped.
Nebula noms closing soon. boosting this to shoot my shot.
So gut-wrenching <3
Reminder that ANYBODY can nominate a work for the Le Guin Prize.
Not only can you nominate your favorite books of last year. You SHOULD.
I'll be reading a series of flash pieces, including my dark feminist revenge tale, "A Girl Goes on a Date Alone at Night."

PM deal announcement against a background of line art tentacles. Announcement reads: "Amanda Helms's THE UPPER TENTACLE, pitched as a horror comedy mash-up of EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY HAS KILLED SOMEONE with H.P. Lovecraft, in which the admin for a corporate retreat and a body splitting alien team up to solve the murder of the company's president at a closed ski resort before their alien overlords inflict dire consequences for humanity's collective insubordination, to Mika Kasuga at Union Square & Co, by Paul Lucas at Regal Hoffmann & Associates (world)."

Very happy this weirdo novella found a home with Union Square and Mika Kasuga! Thanks to @canonizer.bsky.social for connecting us!
Suzan I love this idea so much!
