2025 Highlights from the Illinois Department of Human Services. The graphic lists IDHSโs mission: we respond to the needs of all people in Illinois so they can lead healthy, safe, and enriched lives, vision: Dignity and well-being for everyone in Illinois, and values: Compassion, Accessibility, Responsibility, Equity, followed by program highlights: launching the Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery and the BEACON childrenโs behavioral health portal; raising wages for early childhood workers; leading the nation in helping people with disabilities transition to competitive employment; protecting SNAP access for 1.9 million Illinoisans and directing $20 million to food banks; expanding violence prevention services serving over 25,000 people; reducing Chicago shooting victimizations by 57 percent compared to 2021; and establishing the Office of Housing Stability.
This yearโs work reflects the dedication of IDHS staff and partners across Illinois โ protecting basic needs, strengthening safety, supporting families, and expanding opportunity.
