More recent data shows nearly 50% of cats developed AKI after lily exposure, although most were IRIS AKI grade 1-2 (serum creatinine <2.5mg/dL). Survival in cats with low grade AKI is excellent. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39419082/
Retrospective studies showed most cats receiving prompt veterinary care and fluid therapy did not develop AKI (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22058344/ and pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23547675/). Unknown if it is due to improved renal perfusion, enhanced toxin elimination, or decreased exposure via emesis.
