we were never in disagreement, at least about the does not part. I also doubt that LLMs specifically ever can, but never said this either way before. generally I try not to make predictions, especially not about things I don’t know enough about.
You misread my post as being pro-AI-being-sentient man, I even explicitly disclaimed this in the next post in order so that there would be no confusion. Of course there is no evidence of any of it, so far as I know, and I was asking specifically about Serwer’s barometer for sentience here.
Philosophy of Mind. Ok, noted
I’m saying that it is a thought, a thought that implies sentience by itself. But I’m being told that that’s not enough.
The one in the original example. If an entity desires to be something else, they at least have self-recognition and recognition that their surround has other entities, that, it thinks, it would be better for it to be. Is this not an example of higher-order thinking?
Sorry, I am /not/ trying to troll. Do you or anybody else know where I can read more about this?
But this is strange. If one can desire to /be/ something else, but somehow can’t think about that desire, are they sentient, but only to a point? Could such an entity exist? Do we somehow have an example of this existing in real life, or is this all a thought experiment?
Necessary and sufficient, I meant. There seem to be at least specific first-order desires that point to consciousness…not that any AI has achieved this
No, I knew what it meant, but I’m not sure why second order desires specifically are a sufficient condition for consciousness, especially in this case: if you can desire to /be/something else to begin with, why doesn’t that go to the core of what you are? Why isn’t /that/ alone enough?
there are still some centrists and maga types here who would say something like the second thing
hat is helpfully red, just draw a sickle and hammer on it
possibly because turning computer companies into, conservatively, animal labor and meat providers would destroy them

One: you first, please.
Two: it does not do anything with information that a conscious system would necessarily have to do. Such as a continuous feedback loop with internal information.
They pick a seed value, then pass that value through a pre-weighted unchanging mesh to emulate a likely answer.
(Is the double want to a typo or intentional)
Or is it the same as saying “the problem is the war itself”
Not trolling, genuinely want to know
Is this correct?

Underrated aspect is the framing by camera guy, who doesn’t show the top of the pillar until later, when he does a sharp pan up, adds to the ‘what the fuck is going on’ quality of it all. hats off
Or watching movie shit, just look at this!

I’m sick of him too man, we are discussing it because a whole dossier just dropped detailing how his version of the story around this is like, close to the opposite of reality. Not great! I am crestfallen, not so much at him but at everyone falling over themselves to defend!
Yes I’m angry, I’m angry because I had expectations here. More fool I, but the alternative to that kind of foolishness I find to be terribly isolating.
They had the opportunity to change course and never did. Goes to values.
This should also be the death of populism as anything that should be taken even remotely seriously, tbqh, though the time for that was really fifteen years ago, when OWS went up in smoke.
At this point it is long past time to acknowledge that the kinds of interests groups that draft a Platner are not inherently or even implicitly liberal, and will sell that short so long as you say the right things and have the right aesthetics. This has implications for partnering with them as well.
It’s movie shit, I love it
The stick guy also urging the motor man to up the juice, twice, like he knew exactly what he needed
I watched this like ten times already. It’s perfect
anyway here is some goddamn gear for ya
