The vast majority of studios that try to make their own Fortnite will fail to sniff even a fraction of that success. These publishers are mortgaging their houses to buy lottery tickets. They desperately need to stop putting all their eggs in that once-in-a-generation basket.

I want to say this is one of the few S2 launch games that didn't have any parity to the S1 version, and vice versa. No upgrade path, cross progression, etc. I could be wrong though.

No. If I remember right, the version all the modern ports/remasters are based on is the PS2 version, which was locked to 30fps and couldn’t be changed. The GC version ran 60fps but for whatever reason, that’s not what the PC and modern console ports are built from.
