I just read that he was pretty reactionary on his socials. Always a tough choice - art vs. artist. I don’t care much for group-think nor do I wish to support objectionable ideas. It often depends on how much I enjoy their art if I’m willing to stomach their bullshitery. I liked “The Terror” though.

I enjoyed “Wuthering Heights” as an indictment of the author’s society, and as OG lit (original gothic). I wasn’t interested in this new ‘love story’ adaptation until someone commented, “It’s like those demented 70s movies by Ken Russell”.

I highly recommend “The Five”. It changed the way I looked at the Ripper Murders, and made me a bit embarrassed at how I had so easily bought into the official Victorian view of the victims, who were victims on many levels. I originally read this on kindle so I’m glad to have a hard copy now.

I just finished a dark fiction novel centered on the Cherokee Removal. I didn't cut my hair while writing, only at the end, in respect and mourning. Poe lived then and his image lingered in my mind. Dark dreams. I took his photo to the stylist—she didn’t know him. Fitting. So much is lost to time.
Both my wife and I snore. I like to go to bed early and be up before the sunrise. She likes to stay up late reading and sleep in. It took us 20 years to realise that separate bedrooms were not a compromise in our relationship but a better life.
Forces are murdering citizens in the streets. This is not new. Not even the audacity of calling systemic murder ‘justified’. But perhaps, it’s the embracement of the tyrannical that feels so awful, mournful, and lost.
