Honestly, I'm not sure about the older TV needing Linux. It had no smart features, no apps, no networking. It had ONE HDMI input and an analog tuner (might've been digital... can't recall).
I thought about it more and his was from '06 or '07.

My dad bought a 40" Sony LCD TV circa 2005 that it turned out was running Linux.
I bought a 2014 Sony Bravia from Best Buy in 2016. I've had it this entire time.
I've only just now dug deep enough in the menus to find out it's running Android.

Anywho, it's only 20ºC (68ºF) in my room right now, and with the case fans at 100%, and the AIO fans and pump at 90% for the last 20 minutes or so, my CPU is sitting at about 30ºC, depending on who you ask.
Fan Control Software (Core Avg.): 28ºC
EVGA Software: 32ºC
**Most PSUs do not have user-controllable cooling, and mine falls in that category. That's fine, as I use a SeaSonic PSU, and the thing is rock-solid and dead-silent.
*I use an EVGA CLCx 280 All-In-One (AIO) closed-loop liquid cooler. Their hardware doesn't allow control outside their software for pump speed, fan speed, integrated display control, or the ARGB lighting on the fans, unfortunately.
That said, I modified the ARGB cables so I'd have control.
PC Fans!
I use an app simply called "Fan Control" to have control over my PC's fans.
It can detect and control all 3 case fans (via mobo), and two fans on my GPU (though it has 3, but fans 2 and 3 are treated as one).
Doesn't detect the fans connected to my CPU's AIO*, or the fan in the PSU**.
