Iโm finding it particularly hard to just โbeโ & โworkโ, when news of death/war pervade all my media & senses. Every fiber of my being knows that we can just keep still, โnormalโ whilst the world & future of others beings is being brutally burnt! #endgenocide #resist #NoToWar #Peace #HumanRights

But is this rewarding? Absolutely yes! Has this been eye-opening? Incredibly. Producing conversational and communication resources FOR people and WITH people has changed for good my view of and relationship with research in practice. 9/11

Is this easy? No! Is it scary? Yes! Iโm often afraid of misrepresenting peopleโs lived experience, misusing academic concepts, detracting rigour from the research & evidence-based approach; not being strength-based enough, perpetuating normativity Iโm trying to debunk in interaction studies. 8/11

To produce these resources, make them accessible & usable in real practice, Iโm using #conversationanalysis to look for real life, practice-based evidence & examples in a corpus I collected last year; Iโm looking into the social model of disability & drawing on intersectionality theory; 5/11

We believe each conversation is an opportunity to open that choice up, to explore together the pleasure of choice & of movement. Each interaction drives change in the world. Someone might call it a naive effort, but surely it is a hopeful & relentless (& evidenced in research!) one! 4/11

One of the reasons why Iโm truly enjoying working in MSW is that we genuinely work to enable people to decide and express their own choice and preference when it comes to their lifestyle. All the team wants people to be able to move and be more active at peopleโs own need and pace. 3/11

Disability underrepresentation & underserved communities concerning access to physical activity (sadly not only!), lack of digital & health literacy which lead to access exclusion; finally, communication barriers, access & real practice, especially when having the above factors in background. 2/11

Bluesky flagged the image thumbnail from a charity
fundraising page as โadult contentโ (it was not).
This is a placeholder so you'll see this post in a world of
digital censorship.
We're honestly really annoyed we have to do this.
Help us educate through this hostile climate.
We're closing our fundraising campaign at the end of the month, so this is your last chance to join thousands of eager beavers in a historic moment! All donations made this week will be doubled by a very kind charitable foundation www.gofundme.com/f/btscc2
