Realized I had a ton of #coffee photos, so I made a /coffee page. βοΈ
I mean, Iβd miss you but Iβd understand.
ECS tifo that says "Pride is a riot" and "We will not be erased" -- Other elements include a "protect trans kids" scarf, a trans flag, and a two-pole that says "anti-fascist anti-racist always Seattle"

Xiaofeng Wang, a longtime computer science professor at Indiana University, has disappeared along with his wife, and their profiles on the school's website were wiped ahead of recent FBI raids.
re: ai, you people donβt love making things you love having things and capitalism has convinced you that ownership is self actualization and itβs not and thatβs why youβre empty inside
A Black trans person stands with hands in pockets, wearing a denim jacket and a t-shirt of a blooming flower with the text "trans power". They're smiling up into the sky. In the background are an array of flowers and greenery and sky with clouds, all of it in beautiful soft blues and greens, and in the clouds is the text, "YOU ARE BRILLIANT SOFT MAGIC".
Sending so much love to my trans family & friends on this Trans Day of Visibility! My life is better with you in it. This world is better with you in it. Transness is not just okay, itβs a beautiful facet of human existence and experience. It has always existed! Postcard from Rommy Torrico (.com) β€οΈπ³οΈββ§οΈ
When people say 'politics is too divisive now,' what they really mean is 'I was more comfortable when certain groups suffered quietly.'
Illustration of two witchy kittens hovering over a bubbling cauldron. A cloud of green magic smoke has exploded out over one of the cats, arms raised in surprise and very gleeful.
It's Caturday!! Proceed with caution! β οΈπ½

In these contemporary stories, the supposed divisions between humans and nature blur and we are far from alone in our sentience.
This was such a satisfying project, and one in which I realized for the first time how much my whole life had been spent in a manscape, in places where almost everything was named after men.
This joint interview between Atlantic staff members is thoughtful and interesting, and gives me hope. It's all great, but my link should go to 14:28 when Jeffrey Goldberg asks, "When will we know we're in a Constitutional crisis?"
Adam Serwer gives a pretty epic response:
youtu.be/gwCjUE-NUW4?...
I'm also going to add to make sure to gather with others socially doing fun stuff too. You enjoying your life and having fun publicly is also resistance that should be included.
MY TIME IS HERE!
IFAKs are wonderful bc they are HIGHLY customizable. If youβre not used to carrying a jump bag (pictured below) which is what I carry and fully stocked weighs between 20-40 lbs (shut up water is heavy) then I have great alternatives.
You canβt post your way out of fascism
Authoritarians and tech CEOs now share the same goal: to keep us locked in an eternal doomscroll instead of organizing against them

An image with caption: An orange cat, curled up on a quilt, eyes closed, his cheek getting licked by a furry white corgi face coming in from upper left.
Cal is asleep on the couch so sweetly, all rolled up like a cinnamon bun. I came over for a photo and Finn noticed I was giving affection to another creature (alert as always to my traitorous ways, lol). He hopped and I caught the moment he gave Cal a lick on the cheek.
It's not perfect -- as of 2021, there was still "no way for trans people in the country to obtain legal documentation which reflects their affirmed gender" -- but it's movement!
I happen to LOVE pantaloons!
Looked up βrenaissance paintsβ and was wildly confused for several seconds until I realized Iβd actually looked up, βrenaissance pantsβ.

Felt the pull of the river today, went out for a chilly and lovely short ride. Met some birb friends.
Usually the river is full of ducks, but today it was all geese, all the time! They were taking turns falling into the current, getting swept quickly downriver, then paddling back to their buddies.
My quilt about womenβs reproductive rights has been banned from all American Quilters Society shows this year. Itβs been part of a traveling show with SAQA. My artist statement is too long for here. Itβs on my website: laurashaw.net/quilts#/your-mother

Heβs on my cowl now. The one I hand knit, and set down on the table when I walked in the door, it never occurring to me that heβd set his allergenic little self down on it, lol. He doesnβt even fit! Itβs supposed to be, IF YOU FITS, YOU SITS. Iβve never heard, IF YOU KINDA FITS, YOU KINDA

Tonight was the third and final class to learn French stitch bookbinding, that I took with my friend Jaime at the University of Oregon. Our teacher, Bogi, has been wonderful.... https://eilloh.net/posts/final-night-of-bookmaking-class
Reading anything from this new administration all I hear running in the back of my head is They Might Be Giants:
They might be fake, they might be lies
They might be big big fake fake lies
The "first they came..." poem gets quoted and quoted and quoted and quoted and you know what, we do in fact know who they're coming for first, right now, and that is trans people, and the answer needs to be "absolutely the fuck not, you motherfuckers," full stop.
I still can't believe someone quoted me on something, thanks Lou! :)
And look at all that help youβre getting!
