This is a surprise, but only due to the thousands of volunteers in our parishes and chaplaincies, and those who work for diocesan teams, for their passion for caring for God’s creation in the face of climate change and biodiversity loss. www.dioceseofnorwich.org/bishop-of-no...
Well deserved!
As General Synod prepares to consider our diocesan motion on Sustainable Church Flowers (SCF) on Thursday, Kate Hurst, churchwarden in The Shelsleys and founding member of the SCF Movement, explains why she got involved and why all churches can benefit.

This analysis of how global biodiversity loss & ecosystem collapse could affect UK national security is deeply troubling. It’s an urgent wake up call.
Environmental degradation disrupts food, water, health & supply chains, & trigger wider geopolitical instability.

A treat to be at Windsor Castle for the Royal Premiere of Finding Harmony - A King’s Vision. “We are nature ourselves - we are a part of it, not apart from it”, said King Charles, “we’re actually destroying our means of survival.”
Today in Hebron we visited the tombs of the Patriarchs & Matriarchs, walking the streets near settlements where Palestinians are not allowed which has resulted in a ghost town. Former IDF soldier from ‘Breaking the Silence’ shared harrowing soldiers’ testimonies. Then lunch in South Hebron Hills.
It was so good to celebrate the Conversion of St Paul with the Anglican community at St Philip’s Nablus and then to pick lemons in their garden. Their welcome was so warm.
A rich but heavy few days listening to Palestinian Christians in Jerusalem, Nablus, Ramallah and Bethlehem. The “slow suffocation” (words said to us) of the occupation is accelerating in the West Bank. “They are doing their best to ruin our lives here to make us want to leave.”
In an act of faith-based activism, three bishops and some rabbis (from Rabbis for Human Rights) spent a morning planting olive trees on a Christian Palestinian farmer’s land in the beautiful Al Makhrour valley near Beit Jala. Nearby Israeli settlers are frequently violently threatening these farmers
The joy of planting olive trees with rabbis and my colleagues, the bishops of Gloucester and Chelmsford.
This weekend marks the RSPB #BigGardenBirdwatch — an opportunity to pause, notice the beauty of creation, and help protect it. 🐦
One of our team at Bishopthorpe Palace will be taking part, joining thousands across the country in watching and counting garden birds.

Great to see the #CofE doing its bit!
Thank you Ripon Cathedral for the warm welcome this Plough Sunday. As we gathered to bless the plough and give thanks for those who work the land, let us pray for our rural and farming communities.

Colourful protests at COP30 in Brazil
Great to see the COP hosted in a place where civil society can make its voice heard - unlike the last 3 years!

It was good to be part of a delegation of faith leaders meeting Katie White MP, the Climate Minister, in advance of COP30 in Brazil. We were able to express our shared commitment to work together on climate change, seeking the wellbeing of our global neighbours.
I don't see a lot of people talking about this, so I want to highlight something GOOD
Billie Eilish stood in a room full of billionaires and said "you're billionaires... Why?"
She donated 11.5 MILLION DOLLARS to food equity and climate orgs, which Stephen Colbert announced to said billionaires.
Great to see @bishopnorwich.bsky.social get his amendment on protecting rare chalk streams through in the Lords!
