Man, this reminds me—I just got back from a bleak “kinda sorta still winter” rainy weekend in New York and Philadelphia and I am SO happy to be back in California. The contrast is STARK.
I have had my moments when I have considered “finding my faith” again.
I really don’t get it. I have a low opinion of many people in this country but I thought we still had more spine and principle than to put up with this.

I’m at the Princeton Institute for Advanced Study visiting an old friend from academia, and seconds after we walked behind the main building, I went “Is that … is that the ‘Oppenheimer’ pond?! IT IS!!!!” Ha, I recognized it immediately.
Was in the neighborhood and figured I’d drop by. Seemed like an appropriate place to visit for the times.
