We have always been at war with Eastasia.
We have always been at war with Eastasia.
We donβt talk enough about how morally depraved the tech industry turned out to be. Every single ounce of their self-regarding statements of values was an outright lie.
the one who loved horses, the one who was a great goalkeeper, the one who kept a diary every day, the one who held her sister's hand when they walked to school, the one who read Harry Potter in English, the one who collected old coins, the one who drew rainbows for her grandmother ...
Ship repair at Mare Island (paternal) and paper mill worker (maternal).
I raced against Lance Armstrong in the last event he did before he was banned from sports
I think one of the things that bothers me the most about the way Polymarket presents itself to the world is that it's adopted the language of journalism to make itself sound more legitimate. Like look at this post from yesterday morning incorrectly "projecting" the winner.
OMG this feels like Novak telling bike/ped advocates they weren't being loud enough
I have to do Career Day at my kids' school, what's a good way to teach them about science? I was thinking of giving them a fun activity and then making them fill out a lot of paperwork before abruptly canceling it
I just left a classified briefing with the Trump Administration about the war in Iran.
I was worried before, but Iβm more worried now.
This, plus yet another war about oil.
I am continually disappointed by Nosse.
This is Sam
Ahem
I'm actually not that mad about the kicker because it's established law, which is hard to change. This budgetary stuff is Right Now decisions and arrerggggghhhhhhh

And again I ask, why am I paying my taxes?
I should have added "build a bigger car" to this list
Reframe: some 18 year old aren't quite ready to become part of the capitalist production fodder.

Cities are the best human habitat. Cities can be delightful.
Cities are where we can be whole, within a group of friends and strangers. Now more than ever we need examples of what healthy, living cities can be.
@urbantruth.bsky.social is a group of city makers, ready to inspire you.

I've been ruminating this weekend how whenever someone (usually male) has said "we're doing this for your safety" the 'this' is a thing that makes me literally more unsafe. From cops in the grocery store to killing brown people, all of it raises my feeling of danger everywhere.
itβs also all related. the men who traffic children with impunity are the same ones who start wars, bomb schools, support genocide, ignore laws, shirk taxes, beat their wives and children, and steal every dollar they can from the people. itβs all an expression of the same belief: no one else matters
Welp going to the gym this morning really was the right choice.
Even though stairs are now very hard right now
Because otherwise I'd be horror frozen, but now I'm stronger & energized to REMOVE THESE KILLERS FROM "LEADERSHIP"
PSA: now it's the perfect time to take your bike in for a tune up. Shops are slow - I dropped my bike off in the morning and it was ready by closing the same day with a comprehensive tune up.
Once again, in actual democracies, people do not need to engage in permanent litigation & political mobilization to retain the basic right to vote, because none of the major political parties make restricting suffrage the central pillar of their policy platform. We also don't have to live like this.
I continue to be fascinated by the phenomenon whereby an expert engages with any of the LLMs on their field of expertise and is instantly horrified by the wrong answers, and then goes on to use it for things they are not experts in as though it wonβt be just as bad for those.
I Hate It. I felt like the first release a few years ago was a mistake that they could learn from. But no.
Don't "they" realize that confirming to stupid gender stereotypes won't keep any of us safe?
Who is management courting?
Wow Jeff Galloway died. The run-walk approach to distance running completely changed how I viewed myself as a runner, how rest actually decreased my overall race times, etc. Also opened the aperture of who is a 'runner'.
