At the J Street National Convention, @vanhollen.senate.gov called on Congress to reclaim its authority over decisions of war and peace.
No president should be able to launch a war alone.
We’re thinking especially of the many Israeli partners and activists who were just with us at our Convention – now trying to get home while the country shelters from missiles.
No family across the Middle East should have to live like this.
People running for shelters. Families living underground. Children learning the sound of sirens.
This is life for civilians in Israel right now.
Our hearts are with the families in Beit Shemesh and all those living through this terrifying reality.

We woke up this morning to news of more violence, bombing and uncertainty. Our hearts are with every civilian – Israeli, Iranian, Palestinian and beyond – in harm’s way by leaders willing to sacrifice their people’s safety for their own self-interest. There is another way.

The US embassy will offer services in West Bank settlements to settlers for the first time. As J Street’s Nadav Tamir warned in
