not that the exclusion of the golan heights has any bearing on the apartheid argument obvi but it is kind of odd; this is the map that’s usually used to depict historic palestine

what makes their argument even more risible is that they posted this graphic four days ago, depicting israel from the river to the sea without the demarcation of the green line (and, curiously enough, without the inclusion of the golan heights)

If the war ends up as a debacle for the US, it is clear that Israel is going to be blamed, and by extension also American Jews, and Jews in general, in a manner surpassing similar accusations regarding the Iraq war. The infrastructure for antisemitism is just far more developed and mainstreamed.

The ADL’s strategy here seems to be, “No one else cares about Jews, so we don’t have to care about them.” Even if you agree that other groups do not care about Jews, the sheer numbers make this an unwise bet.

a good thread, but i don't think it's fair to say that he marketed himself as "pro war". his resistance to use the term genocide is a discomfort felt by a lot of members of the jewish community--expressed by both those who supported and opposed israel's actions in gaza.

What does Marjorie Taylor Greene's break with Trump mean for Jews? Nothing good Marjorie Taylor Greene's rift with Donald Trump is about what kind of nationalism the far-right believes in.

I published a piece today about the resignation of Marjorie Taylor Greene, and why the future of MAGA might be open antisemitism rather than superficial philosemitism. forward.com/opinion/7958...

The ADL Could Focus on America’s Biggest Driver of Antisemitism. Instead, It’s Obsessed with Mamdani. Calling for Palestinian equality is not antisemitism, no matter what the ADL says.

Start the new year off with this fantastic article by the inimitable Joshua Shanes, revealing how the failures of the ADL reflect a deeper failure of how we talk about antisemitism in the US. slate.com/news-and-pol...

the sole reason that the ADL actively went out looking for any scrap of evidence that mamdani or his associates hate jews is because of his israel/palestine politics. like she worked for deblasio and this somehow wasn't an issue then

i'd feel differently if there weren't such an obvious double standard. look at the discourse on nigel farage's antisemitic harrassment as a teenager. or the new york young republicans.

A Better Way to Approach Antisemitism on Campus (opinion) Policing speech about Israel is counterproductive.

"To foster a campus climate of real inclusion, we need to convene and converse, not record and report... Our administrations and governments just have to give us the respect, job security and academic freedom to do so." www.insidehighered.com/opinion/view...

Screenshot of a statement: Nexus Project Statement on Jewish Communal Response to NYC Mayor-Elect Mamdani. Jonathan Jacoby, President and National Director of the Nexus Project and Alan Solow, Chairman of the Board of the Nexus Project and former Chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations (2009-2011), released the following statement: “The Nexus Project is deeply concerned by the divisive, hyperbolic and aggressive response that we are seeing from some corners of the Jewish community to the election of Zohran Mamdani as the next mayor of New York City. This unhelpful response does not reflect the true interests, values and concerns of American Jews, including Jewish New Yorkers, or of our community as a whole. It risks alienating important allies and partners in the struggle to uphold democracy and combat antisemitism – and that it is recklessly and unnecessarily stoking a sense of antagonism between Jewish Americans and the mayor of the city with the largest Jewish population in the world.

The ADL is terrified that the Mamdani administration will continue to demonstrate that a genuine, tangible commitment to the well-being of Jews in America can coexist alongside staunch opposition to the policies of a country on the other side of the planet. It hurts their bottom line

Truth Social post from Donald Trump: “Any Jewish person that votes for Zohran Mamdani, a proven and self professed JEW HATER, is a stupid person!!!”

This is how the ostensibly philosemitic wing of the party is going to reconcile itself with the openly antisemitic wing. “We tried to help you, we really did, but you wouldn’t let us.”

Screenshot of Jonathan Greenblatt's tweet says "This is far from the first time. Tucker Carlson and Nick Fuentes both have been spewing hatred explicitly or subtly spreading it for years. None of it is acceptable. However, credit to @KevinRobertsTX for stepping forward today and issuing a clear, cogent takedown of the toxic antisemitism and venomous racism expressed by Fuentes. It was clarifying and crucial to hear firsthand that @heritage has zero tolerance for this kind of poison." It's a quote tweet of the A D L's tweet, which says "For years, we have catalogued Tucker Carlson and Nick Fuentes’ antisemitic rhetoric and admonished those who would seek to legitimize them. And we deeply appreciate those who have rejected Heritage’s shocking and indefensible defense of this hate – especially conservatives who..." and then it cuts off.

We do not join Jonathan Greenblatt in thanking the Heritage Foundation's President Kevin Roberts for trying to have it both ways.

You can’t condemn antisemitism and not condemn those ushering it into the mainstream.

it's wild to me that we have a letter from 850+ rabbis denouncing zohran mamdani for things he never said and positions he never took while no such letter has been written condemning stephen miller for claiming to "defend jewish values" while being an utter fucking nazi and dismantling our democracy

We are going to end up with two political coalitions in which one thinks "fighting antisemitism" means shutting down universities and deporting students, which polls show most actual Jews oppose, and the other thinks all antisemitism is a right-wing wedge issue. And Republicans want it that way.

‘I love Hitler’: Leaked messages expose Young Republicans’ racist chat Thousands of private messages reveal young GOP leaders joking about gas chambers, slavery and rape.

my prediction for the adl statement: "in a time of rising antisemitism, we are deeply concerned about these messages. we expect more from these otherwise upstanding young gentlemen and we will continue to work with the trump administration in their mccarthyist pursuits."

Really glad to see this much needed report. The Nexus Project is the moral voice we need against antisemitism and for democratic pluralism, at a time when too many other organizations have abdicated that role.
