FWIW, the reason is that every egg has a little air pocket inside.
Over time, this air bubble in the egg gets larger, as the egg shell is somewhat permeable to air. If the air pocket has gotten large enough to allow the egg to float, it has already been lying around for quite some time.
The brain worms have been at work again but surely Pokopia can heal me, right?
Honestly, I hope I'll get addicted to it like everyone else, I really need that dopamine.
