Trump Is Attacking Climate Science. Scientists Are Fighting Back. It’s easy, looking at the past year, to see the damage the administration has done. But researchers are also stepping up, trying to fill the gaps.

Adventures in Biometeorology! We hoped for a prescribed burn to reduce thatch at the east end @ameriflux.bsky.social wetland. Today we learned it was burned last week. Oops. Seems the fire had its own mind. Lots of melted wires and a T/RH Gill aspirator.

Will be interesting to study regrowth

2/20/26 8:35 am Update:
The #snow has stopped but not before giving us another 18.5" (47 cm) in the last day. That brings our 5-day total to 111" (281.5 cm), the third snowiest 5-day period on record at the lab*.

Calm conditions for the next several days but a warmer storm moves in mid-week.

Bay Area deli with 100-year history closes one of its last locations One of the last remaining locations of Genova Deli, a family-run business with century-old roots in the East Bay, will shut its doors in Walnut Creek.

Sad to hear. This was our source of the best ravioli when i was growing up (except when hand made by our Nonna and Zia for Christmas and Thanksgiving)

Fyi The lasagna at the Napa store is first rate, too.

A Flood ofΒ Hope Β By Ted Sommer My most inspiring bike ride this past year was not on a mountain or in some exotic destination. It was sixteen flat and muddy valley miles under overcast skies. My destination was a new concrete structure designed to reconnect the Sacramento River with its adjacent floodplain, the Yolo Bypass. This habitat restoration project reflects decades of work by my team and represents one of the most important steps to save Central Valley salmon.

"knowledge about how greenhouse gases affect hurricanes, wildfires, heat waves, flooding & agriculture becomes more detailed every year. The government’s decision today is 'not based on science,' Howarth said. 'It’s a predetermined political decision.' "
