An elegant bird, it was hunted to near extinction in the late 1800 as their plumes were popular decoration in women’s hats.

These graceful birds dance along the shores to stir up their prey in the shallow waters.

Today’s resort friend is the Mangrove Swallow.

This little guy shares many physical characteristics as our Violet-green Swallow.

Fun fact: these guys have strong pair bonds and stay together for multiple breeding seasons unlike many bird species.

The Magnificent Frigatebird.

This is female with the white breast, the males have a scarlet throat pouch which inflates during mating season!

Population in decline due to habitat loss of coastal areas, their hunting and breeding sites.
