I just don't want to accidentally start reinforcing the paper ceiling leftistly, tbh. Lots of people don't go to or graduate college because of things outside their control, or go to trade school instead. It doesn't mean they aren't smart. And lots of people with doctorates seem frighteningly dense.

You like Rep. Crockett when she's on fire in a committee hearing. You liked Kamala when she was grilling Kavanaugh. You like Hillary when she's testifying. But you don't wanna give them more power. Cause you're fuckin full of shit posers.

Joy would be "I love watching my wife's appetite now that she's pregnant." This shit was ridicule, and he'll probably shame her later on for gaining weight because "the baby didn't need all that food." Happens all the time. Same song, different singer.

A lot of us despise the Trump regime, Per, doesn’t mean I want the elementary school in my town vaporized.

Delroy Lindo Thanks Supporters After BAFTA N-Word Incident: ‘It’s a Classic Case of Something That Could Be Very Negative Becoming Very Positive’
"Sinners" stars Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo got a standing ovation at the NAACP Image Awards after BAFTA's N-word incident.
"'Before we start, I’d just like to officially say, we appreciate — I appreciate — we appreciate all the support and the love that we have been shown in the aftermath of what happened last weekend. It means a lot to us,' Lindo began, while the crowd clapped and cheered."

Because we were also told buying a house was the ticket to financial security, and didn't know how unethical the loans offered to us were. We were pushed into adulthood with promises of stability if we did it the Boomer way, and then they fucked us over and demeaned us for failing.

My peers are I were all told a college degree was the key to living financially comfortable life, and then they saddled us with student loans many of us struggled to pay off, economic crashes that meant layoffs, career resets, and foreclosures on the homes we bought with predatory loans...

Yep, tried to get out of retail in the 00s after dropping out of college for health reasons in 01. I couldn't even get a job filing paperwork or in any kind of office reception without a 4 year degree. Never mind that my specific retail job had skills that translated to office work!

A centrist is one who attacks Joe Biden and campaigns on hugging it out with MAGA. Seen it with Fetterman, seen it with Tulsi… seen it with Manchin

It's full on light outside by the time Kid 2 and I leave for school at 7:15, and it makes me so damn happy the light is back.

I love that about Costco. One of my favorite things about going to different Costcos is seeing the differences in the offerings from store to store.

The reason it looks like an old segregation era photo is that white supremacy never went away.
It needs to be destroyed

The Epstein files document what many women researchers have long experienced but rarely seen laid bare so starkly: exclusion operating behind closed doors, shaping who gets funded, invited, mentored, and taken seriously. How many of these networks, norms, and gatekeepers remain in place?

Hubs and I had a trip to New Mexico at the end of February, and talked about potentially canceling the trip because of my immune compromised ass. We went anyway because NM didn't have any cases yet, but locked stuff down pretty quickly once we got home.

Opinion | As a conscientious parent and a political centrist, I pledge to never raise a son who sexually abuses women like Donald Trump or a daughter who has an annoying laugh like Kamala Harris.

That's because white people are white first, their other identities second. It's why white leftists ignore Black women unless they can use something a Nlack woman says for moral superiority. It's why white liberals ignore Black women unless they can use a Black woman to get ahead.

AND SHE'D PUT HIM THROUGH IT AGAIN. These people are sick in the head, no sane, humane, respectable person would willingly put their kid through this instead of taking a vaccine. Her son's condition was entirely preventable!

You know what makes me feel alive, sad though you personally may find it? When my homemaker skills kick ass, despite my body constantly being a dick. Working around my limitations, or working through a tough project? It feels really good.

Not everything has to be a commentary on societal/political/economical struggle. Some things can just be about things that can be enjoyed! That's GOOD, actually!

Kid 2 LOVES chemistry. But, it doesn't come easy to her. Science ain't her strong suit. And every time she's gotten a good score on her ex chem or neurobio tests she has been absolutely triumphant. THAT is what Alysa is talking about: the hard work that comes with skill building.

The number of people connecting this quote to a financial or political struggle to survive, versus the struggle required to master a skill—failing over and over and over and over, and always getting back up to try again—is...not surprising, but deffo disappointing.

It is always “listen to Black women” until we want to be in charge or go for that job… quickly turn to …oh no that’s not what we meant.. you just don’t fit into that JOB… we want your ideas.. time and energy.. that’s all..

Reminder to Texans that you do not beat white supremacy by voting for a lesser qualified white male candidate because you're too afraid to fight and put in the work for the more qualified Black woman with a track record of fighting fascism.
