New blog post! A what-if scenario where we try to see how a home computer designer might've dealt with the field-sequential color television, had the Korean War not stopped that standards' rollout. Enjoy! nicole.express/2026/the-app...

Leslie and Brianne are at a gas station. Leslie, in rabid-poster mode, exclaims "I'm so angry!! I have so many opinions on other people's opinions of the new Pixar movie!!" Leslie, going to town on some Fresh Gasoline, replies "You need to drink more gasoline. It makes all my thoughts and opinions melt away!" But then she sees the price of gas and freaks out- it's "A Lot!"
this @keithstack.com comic is both 4 years old and topical again which is giving me low-grade anxiety
Yesterday was also Ornette Colemanβs birthday. He would have been 96. Iβve been listening to the two disc βComplete Science Fictionβ with some beautiful tunes like Law Years and Street Woman. Coleman is known as a free jazz innovator but that doesnβt mean amelodic or unrehearsed. This is exquisite

I finally saw the new Mandalorian and Grogu trailer, looks fun as Hell. I still need to watch Season 3.
I haven't kept up with new Star Wars content the past couple years due to fandom burnout, but with a new theatrical feature on the way and the 50th anniversary approaching, it's about time to get back into it, starting with Andor finally.

Commodified fantasy takes no risks: it invents nothing, but imitates and trivializes. It proceeds by depriving the old stories of their intellectual and ethical complexity, turning their truth-telling to sentimental platitude.
Happy birthday to Ornette Coleman, born on this day in 1930!
He is best known as a principal founder of the free jazz genre. His pioneering works often abandoned the harmony-based composition, tonality, chord changes, and fixed rhythm found in earlier jazz idioms.

a two panel colored digital art comic of Miorine and Suletta from Gundam: the Witch from Mercury. Miorine is wearing a dark blue crew neck sweater. Suletta is wearing a light yellow cardigan over a white t-shirt. panel 1 Miorine (eyes closed, holding a finger up confidently): "The key to a successful marriage is to *always* think your wife is right." Suletta: "Okay!" panel 2 Miorine (bothered): "Wait. No. Suletta, don't agree with me. I just said something really unreasonable." Suletta (smiling, eyes closed): "Haha. Oh, sorry."

The same artist did this 1983 Return of the Jedi poster.
Two, interlocking and thoroughly gorgeous Noriyoshi Ohra covers for a Manga adaption of Star Wars: A New Hope. Everytime I stumble across this scan in my files, I simply have to throw it out there into the galaxy again. Coz itβs fab.

"It's not a Navy, sir, it's just... people" is an all-timer moment in the series π₯
This is an environment that strangles creativity and punishes risk taking, which is basically the opposite of why Pixar had its once sterling reputation to begin with. It makes movies like Turning Red or Hoppers stand out all the more because itβs basically a miracle they arenβt complete duds
#RiseofSkywalkerβs βThere are more of usβ is such a tuff #StarWars moment.
Often compared to βAvengers! Assembleβ in Endgame (also great!), the key difference is that one battle is waged by gods, superhumans, and billionaires to defeat a looming tyrannical threat;
the other is βjust β¦ people.β
I think a lot of us millennials & older really take it for granted that we were the last of only a couple generations where there was an all-encompassing campaign to encourage literacy. Everyone used to agree upon it. There were commercials with your favorite celebrities just being like, "READ!"
