Suck is subjective anyway. All the most interesting, time tested maps are weird and experimental and that's what makes them so interesting. CTF-Face is a huge open killing field you just pray you can cross alive, but the vibes and imprint is timeless.

I'm not the most experienced 3D artist by any means but my girlfriend has been unemployed for a while and we need money.

So I can make you a prop or other 3D object with either the flat style or more PSX.

Godot's FBX importer, exported out of Source 2 Hammer (testing it out). The texture UV's are all fine. There's no UV2, I'm using Godot's UV2 unwrapper, where I suspect the issues are. Valve units to Godot meters requires a root scale of 3.125 and I don't know if that helps either.

But even setting the texel scale to 0.5, another factor of 2, resulted in big light smears and misalignments. I can't understand it. God I hope some people can take a good look at Godot's lightmapper sooner rather than later. I think maybe the UV2 unwrapper particularly.

Today's discovery was the lightmapper spitting out all sorts of splotchy errors for an hour until I set the texel scale from the default 0.2 to 0.25. I'm importing levels from Valve/ID units with a scale factor of 3.125, so I wonder if that has something to do with it??

would anyone somehow happen to have all the images from texturer. com backed up? it got replaced with some betting bullshit last year but it used to have a shitload of great textures and browsing it in internet archive is a pain (really slow)

Light leaks in sealed geometry and misalignments. Stuff that's currently open on the github lightmap tracker so it's known, but still makes it very hard to work with currently.
