Success! After nearly eight years of work, I defended my dissertation and earned my doctorate in history from @unipotsdam.bsky.social! My heartfelt thanks to my doctoral advisor, Prof. Dr. Michael Epkenhans, whose insightful guidance and incredible patience enabled me to succeed.
Thanks, Dr. Faulkner. Iโll exhale once I successfully defend the dissertation. I look forward to that day.

Very relieved
After seven years of researching and writing in the evening and on weekends, I have submitted my dissertation. 382 pages using the original records of the Imperial German Navy. My defense will be early next year. Itโs hard to believe Iโm almost there!

I was greatly saddened to hear of the death of KptzS Dr. Jรถrg Hillmann. A noted German naval historian, he was also a gentleman and a good friend. I had the pleasure of co-teaching lectures on Jutland and the Falklands with him at the Fรผhrungsakademie. He will be sorely missed.
