There's been lots of polling recently showing increasing economic anxiety among the U.S. public. Our latest @kff.org poll shows how health care costs factor into those concerns

There is lots going on in the world of health policy today. ICYMI, follow along with @ashleykirzinger.bsky.social for key findings from a new KFF survey of ACA marketplace enrollees on the impending expiration of expanded tax credits....
Some numbers from our new KFF/NYT Survey of immigrants:
- 22% know someone who was detained or deported
- 49% feel less safe since President Trump took office
- 47% struggled to pay for food, housing, or health care
- Still, 70% would come to the U.S. again if given a choice
Our brand new survey of immigrants in partnership with @nytimes.com explores immigrants views and experiences under the second Trump administration. It finds increased fear, health and economic challenges amid immigration enforcement, but a remarkable resilience as well

KFF graphic featuring a quote from Ashley Kirzinger, KFFβs Director of Survey Methodology; Associate Director for Public Opinion and Survey Research. It says, βThe debate over these enhanced tax credits can be seen as a proxy for the broader publicβs concerns about health care affordability which may be why the public is largely in favor of extending these subsidies β even as overall views of the ACA are still very polarized.β
β‘ KFFβs @ashleykirzinger.bsky.social breaks down KFF polling showing broad public support for extending the enhanced ACA premium tax credits β and whatβs likely driving that rare agreement across party lines. #QuickTake https://on.kff.org/4n3Gjox
And see the Washington Post's reporting on the poll, including profiles of parents who are making a range of decisions on vaccinating their children

Dig into the data on parents' vaccine attitudes in our KFF report:
www.kff.org/public-opini...
NEW KFF/Washington Post survey finds most parents follow vaccine guidance and express confidence in vaccines. But partisan divisions appear to be widening, and younger parents express more doubts than older parents, raising questions about the future of childhood vaccine uptake in the US.
@audreykearney.bsky.social points out what we know about parents' support for school vaccine mandates as Florida moves to remove them
A Washington Post-KFF poll finds 81% of parents support schools requiring measles and polio vaccines with religious/health exceptions, including 82% of parents in Florida. Survey was conducted July-August among 2,716 U.S. parents of children <18 www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/...
When football "trumps" health? Football has serious long-term health consequences, and in our novel survey of 1988 pro players with ESPN out today, the pain and suffering comes pouring out, even as the players also say they would do it all over again.
Unique new survey project out from KFF and ESPN today. Follow along with the key findings from @alex-kff.bsky.social
The Senate has just passed what amounts to the biggest health reform plan since the ACA, rolling back many of the health insurance coverage increases achieved by the ACA.
Bar chart showing immigrants' approval/disapproval of Trump admin's efforts to end birthright citizenship by total immigrants, party ID, and immigration status.
In light of today's Supreme Court ruling, re-upping this finding from @kff.org's Survey of Immigrants from March/April. Most immigrants disapprove of the Trump admin's efforts to end birthright citizenship, but Republican immigrants are split: 52% say they approve, 48% say they disapprove.
There's been some talk about health provisions that are IN the GOP budget bill, but less about what is NOT included: extension of enhanced premium tax credits for ACA Marketplace plans. Our new poll finds most people across the political spectrum support extending them.
www.kff.org/affordable-c...
One of the interesting throughlines here is the degree to which (maybe by virtue of how much else is going on), how malleable views of the bill are -- it starts off without much of a base of strong support, but some lesser-known provisions are even more unpopular when people hear about them.
During the ACA repeal debate in 2017, a focus on what was at stake w/repeal contributed to an increase in the law's popularity. We seem to be seeing a similar pattern with coverage of potential Medicaid and ACA cuts in the BBB. Popularity of both programs is at an all-time high in KFF polling.
Not from KFF, but an Axios/Ipsos poll from March 2025 found 17% of adults reported getting a COVID booster in the last 3 months, which is about the same share who said the same in Feb 2024. To me this suggests interest in boosters still exists.
We also conducted focus groups with immigrants who are undocumented or living with an undocumented family member and found they face a range of concerns about their families' safety, health, and economic situations.
www.kff.org/racial-equit...
New KFF survey finds increased immigration enforcement is affecting the wellbeing of many who are in the U.S. legally. The share who are worried about detention or deportation increased from 2023, including among naturalized citizens and lawfully present immigrants.
www.kff.org/racial-equit...
When it comes to trust in vaccine information, we find reversal of a trend of declining trust among Republicans that started during COVID. Dems remain more likely than Reps to trust CDC and FDA for information, but trust has inched up among Rs and dropped by double digits among Ds since 2023.
First KFF poll on trust in federal health agencies under the new administration finds generally low levels of confidence in CDC & FDA. Just 1/3 have confidence in these agencies to act independently without interference from outside interests.
www.kff.org/health-infor...
New KFF Tracking Poll looks at opinion on cuts to federal health agencies & programs. Partisans mostly disagree, of course, but majorities of both Ds and Rs oppose major cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, mental health, and infectious disease funding, and VA staff cuts

New from my colleague @lunnalopes.bsky.social on the challenges facing the new CDC director nominee, should she be confirmed
www.kff.org/quick-take/t...
As the Trump Administration withdraws the nomination of Dr. David Weldon to head the CDC, new KFF poll finds Republican trust in the agency to provide reliable information on bird flu is low (58% say they trust the agency "not much" or "not at all") www.kff.org/health-infor...
But misperceptions about Medicaid persist. Most people don't know that most working-age people Medicaid recipients have jobs, and most are unaware that Medicaid is the primary payer of nursing home and LTC services.
New from KFF: Medicaid is popular. Most people have some level of personal connection to the program, and few want to see federal spending on Medicaid reduced, including among Republicans and Trump voters.
www.kff.org/medicaid/pol...
New KFF poll: The public expects the Trump administration's dismantling of USAID to lead to health and humanitarian crises around the world. And while many say the US spends too much on foreign aid, the share drops dramatically when they're told it's 1% of the budget
www.kff.org/global-healt...
This is why when we ask people about their insurance in surveys, we have a system to pipe in the different program names depending on where they live. It's also why when changes to "Medicaid" are debated in Washington, some people may not understand how they'll be affected.
@kff.org conducted focus groups with Medicaid enrollees who voted for Pres Trump and VP Harris. Despite differences in who they voted for in Nov 2024, participants had consistently favorable experiences with Medicaid and concerns with potential cuts to the program. www.kff.org/medicaid/rep...
