Find your joy where you can. I find myself inexplicably happy driving our new-to-us diesel pick-up (bought to tow a travel trailer) after 20 years of hybrid and full-electric cars. It's the wierdest thing. It's huge and heavy and for some reason (which I truly do not understand) I love it.

Not losing weight, but that was never the point. I'm fortunate that I have no medical limitations (altho I am surrounded by other women who do, and keep pushing too) and I am looking forward to traveling this summer, being able to hike, and do what I want. Life is good!

I started at a gym last Oct. Three X a week, MWF. First, I am, at 72, doing great. My trainer is very happy with my progress and tells me so. I have biceps again. The workouts push me, but I no longer feel wrung out afterwards. Balance is improving. Aerobic conditioning improving.

I haven't even been able to get through, with repeated calls. I did manage to leave my name and number and city with one of my senators, but the call cut off right after that. I haven't gotten through to my other senator at all, nor my Congressman. I hope this means that the lines are overwhelmed.

I used to embarrass my kids. Now they find themselves, to their horror, doing the same things I did when they were young.

Our Afghan friends are legal immigrants with visas, but if their green cards aren’t issued yet they must (by law) carry their Afghan passports which incorporate their visas.

I have also read conflicting advice about keeping one's green card or American passport with you at all times. Do you know what the consensus is?

I love that these come in so many languages! This card is good if ICE shows up at one's house; what about if you are stopped when driving? I know a lot of new Amer citizens and green card holders who are here legally, but we know how much that means when you have brown skin and wear a hijab.

I have bread dough rising. Just white sandwich bread that will be baked in my Pullman pan. It's cold and I have things to do, but I just felt like an easy loaf of enriched bread, so I'm doin' it. The world's on fire, but bread is good.

I don’t know where I’m going to shop if I have to drop Amazon *and* all of the brick and mortar companies too. Costco, I guess.

Just occurred to me: part of the decision was our dogs. It was hard and expensive to arrange care for them when we traveled. This way we just take them with us.

Athletic Brewing Co's 0-proof brews are all getting a thumbs up. To this only occasional beer drinker, they actually taste like beer. I haven't tried any of the spirit-subs except Monday Gin (weird but drinkable with a mixer, although it doesn't taste like gin), and the SeedLip line, 2/3

This is a hell of a month to be doing Dry January. However, I've been experimenting with deacoholized wine, mocktails, and 0-proof brews. So far, the Giesen's dealcoholized Pinot Grigio gets a C, and the Sauvignon Blanc gets a D-. 1/3

I just ordered my Lifetime Senior Pass to the US National Parks and Paul and I discussed some of the national parks and national monuments we want to visit in our new-to-us travel trailer. There are things to look forward to in the coming years.
