I truly hate that the default way to share a creative work is to toss it on a site like this instead of a place where people can go and see your body of work presented with less emphasis on temporal context

I need to read over the rest of this at some point to get context but - yeah, I agree.
That said, I think it’s okay if numbers are a part of someone’s motive, not all good art comes easily motivated.
Personally, I tend to be happiest when I make things for myself though. I think it’s admirable to.
