I will also say that it’s a bit wild to me that no press freedom organization or professional journalistic association has tried to contact me or even put out a statement here.

I mean Jesus Christ. A little solidarity from institutions would be nice here!

So beautiful! I have a lemon tree in a container that I move into my greenhouse in the winter, but it grew a lot last year. I think it's time to plant it in the ground and hope that it blooms this year!

Hurts my heart to see Tiny Town being dismantled while steps away from 940 Caledonia, someone spent the night sleeping in a tent. Shelters are. being removed from our community, in the winter, while people are sleeping on the streets.

My personal investments are in an "ethical fund" but I 100% should be doing more investigation of what that means, especially as you say with things like AI and REITs...

It’s feeling safer in downtown Victoria
As a resident of downtown Victoria, I would also like to say how much positive change there has been since police officers and bylaw officers have been walking throughout the downtown core.

An example is Millie’s Lane, where there used to be many people hunched over doing drugs and, in some cases, yelling profanities; the lane now feels safe enough to walk through again.

On my daily walks, I still see some unhoused people in doorways or elsewhere. When I see an officer and give them the location, they immediately head there to have a conversation with the individual. They always move along.

My only hope is that they can move on to a place where they have warm shelter and food. Thanks to Victoria police and city council for making a difference.

I would also like to thank the Clean Team for all the cleanup they do.

It feels safer.

Gross letter in the TC. Dude notifies vicpd when he sees unhoused folks "in doorways or elsewhere". What the actual fuck. Spoiler alert, Ian: unhoused folks aren't freezing outdoors because they haven't thought of moving on to a place with warm shelter & food instead of sleeping on the sidewalk.

β€œ50% of the time it’s approved every time.” That’s the logic some city councillors seem to be bringing to their understanding of the VicPD budget and appeals to the province.

I was motivated to donate after my partner's uncle received a life saving liver donation! I applied to be a kidney donor and was matched with someone who CBC had written an article about. My kidney went to her, and her daughter donated a kidney to someone else who needed a match!

Living Kidney Donation LivingΒ  kidney organ donation is an act of altruism that reduces the wait time for patients in need of a life-saving kidney.

BC doesn't have an anonymous liver donor program, but BC Transplant can match you to become a life-saving kidney donor! It's an amazing process to be part of! www.transplant.bc.ca/organ-donati...

So someone was unsuccessful in trying to steal $300 worth of food from a business owned by the Sobey family (net worth $5.5 billion), and the cops thought it warranted a news release
