I can't believe we have no household solar and no ferries and 43 days of fuel left

We are so dumb

We have the dumbest government but also we are very dumb

Long covid exacerbated my fibromyalgia from off and on to on and worse now more than ever.

The booster saved me from the last time covid entered my house.

Unsurprising from Stuff but this is negligent and dangerous rhetoric

I cannot tell you how much my respect would go up for Luxon and National if they recognised the new situation and went all out for domestic solar and renewables now.

There is political cover from the middle east energy shock

It's only really ego and insecurity that stands in the way. #nzpol

Increasing talk here that Methanex will leave. Hip hip hooray. They use c45% of gas supply, pay almost no tax in this country, are a blight on the landscape, work to 1980s environmental standards - all for just 150 local jobs. www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/3609...

The Cult Of C'thulhu does not count social profit. This measures the total benefit of public expenditure. Countries and their governments are corporations - attempts to run them as such always fail.

Scrapping clean car discount cost $138m in fuel savings – transport officials The advice was never officially presented because the new government suspended the need for regulatory impact statements for undoing Labour-era policies.

If only there was some sort of vehicle that did not need imported fuel to run. May be the government could encourage their purchase with some sort of clean car discount, and save money doing it. What a wild idea!

Hasn’t followed the world towards clean energy.

What is the point of NZ First anyway. They shouldn’t have the role of Kingmaker. What exactly, other than Gold card, have they done for Aotearoa? #nzpol

IEA was organisation NZ has belonged to that Shane Jones quoted in 🧡1 . They through member countries have just released oil into the market.

This is the advice they gave Jones & Coalition in 2024.

He & Coalition should have been encouraging/implementing clean energy alternatives. #nzpol

Move-on orders 'not welcome here', Wellington leaders say An open letter decrying the introduction of powers to enable police to relocate people from certain areas has been sent to the Prime Minister.

This is what local political leadership looks like.

The answer lies in longer term solutions, including the building of more public housing and the resourcing of critical support services.

Instead all we're getting is the criminalisation of poverty.

I don't expect much from Peters and Seymour, but to see Simeon and Luxon blatantly politicising the 2nd Covid report is disgraceful.

Dr Ayesha Verrall is right, they are desperate.

Wow we have The Post leading with headlines about a "Please explain" to Labour for Auckland lockdowns - but turns out our response wasn't only world class, the Auckland lockdown was only FOUR days longer than recommended

Stuff is corporate media crap and it shows. #nzpol #newzealand

All good points. *Every single one of them* (& far, far more!) are those that The Disinformation Project, led by Kate Hannah, consistently, & in near real-time provided grounded, & gendered insights, & warnings around - incl. in our 1st public report. static1.squarespace.com/static/65c9c... #nzpol

To counter future information threats, the inquiry recommends a measured and transparent approach to strategic comms. To essentially strengthen information integrity, & bolster public confidence, report notes the govt should be open about the science, & evidence that underpin its decisions.

The Phase 2 report's out www.covid19lessons.royalcommission.nz/reports-less... Inter alia, it flags how mis/disinfo significantly impacted NZ's pandemic response. Both undermined efficacy of vaxx campaign and implementation of lockdowns, contributing to a measurable decline in public trust. #nzpol

Covid-19 Inquiry: Swift government action on recommendations is now needed The critical next step is the NZ Government’s response. Aotearoa needs to be ready when the next pandemic hits.

Throw back at National Party when will they enact the recommendations in the Covid19 Reports.

This must surely be urgent now because of the delay in 2nd $14m Report?

Surely that is the burning question of every politician, media outlet & NZ’er? #nzpol

As someone who was in that last Auckland lockdown, I firmly believe the Government did the best it could throughout the main acute phase of the pandemic at every point. Hindsight is 20:20 but I'm glad Simeon Brown wasn't making any decisions during that period.

Reading Marc Daalder’s super helpful analysis of the 2nd Covid inquiry, it looks as if Ardern’s Govt came through with a B+.

Simeon Brown and Luxon have the perfect chance now to put all that right as that was the purpose of the two covid19 reports, to make recommendations to fix the system.

What is his timeframe for urgently getting these recommendations enacted? Or was it just a political stunt?. #nzpol
