hey look a fun history lesson!
One of the fun parts of writing this essay was getting to describe the fighting game genre as a developer instead of a player, and explain how stuff like camera expectations and single-screen multiplayer do a lot to constrain the design space to keep the focus on combat above all else.

Resident Evil 9 is retroactively making me enjoy RE8. The best and worst entries in the series have tried to reinvent RE but 8 and 9 have found success in just giving you a buffet of the different styles of RE. 9 feels like its really perfected moving between the different flavors of the franchise.
I feel like half the shit people use A.I for in the real world workplace is stuff you can achieve with knowledge of spreadsheet scripting. We wouldn't need all these A.I data centers if we just made Spreadsheets a mandatory part of a highschool curriculum.
