When I was using it to learn Spanish I found out that even though it used the Spanish flag, it was actually Mexican Spanish - which would have been nice to know BEFORE trying to use it in Spain 😂 It was good for refreshing my German a bit, but Babbel felt more useful more quickly (but less fun)
I expect that consumer-facing AI programs will continue to improve and they may become much more useful tools for everyday life in the future.
But I think it was a disastrous mistake that today’s models were taught to be convincing before they were taught to be right.

The guys doing cold outreach for more-of-the-same AI tools right now are the same guys who set up scam dropshipping sites during lockdown / are the same guys who sell spam links on Fiverr / are the same guys who think everything chatGPT says is accurate and clever, change my mind
If I receive one more AI-written LinkedIn message or AI-written cold email pitch about another f~cking AI tool, particularly addressing me by the wrong name and/or referring to a business I don't work for and/or referring to a job I don't do, I will rip out my eyeballs and throw them into the sea
