The feeds I curate for Amateur Radio and the Morongo Basin are all hosted on SkyFeed. So for any interested in the topic, here is what's evolving with the feed situation. There may be some changes coming.
@ad6g
Ham radio and such things. Late of x-twitter. Out of practice VE. QTH DM14sc For some reason I'm curating 4 ham radio feeds these days & one for the Morongo Basin (Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree, 29 Palms, etc); please see https://bit.ly/4bDVT5G for details.

New to me... Thanks for the tip.

My trouble with #APRSdroid seems to be with the way it is accessing the phone's GPS. Yesterday I ran a track using Organic Maps which tracked perfectly. Halfway thru the hike I started APRSdroid. While Organic Maps is running, APRSdroid tracks perfectly as well. #HamRadio #AmateurRadio #APRS
A hike track on the old phone (Motorola G6 Play)
Same hike on the new phone (Motorola Moto G Power 2026)
Replaced my 8 year old android phone finally. Here are #APRSdroid tracks of the same hike path, before and after. I figured there would be more points with the new phone thanks to better cell coverage, and there was. But what the hell happened to the GPS? #HamRadio #APRS
Aye dunno, that mobile almost seems excessive.
"Hams radios", you say? Clearly I got into the wrong hobby. #HamRadio
FYI there are several ham radio feeds on bluesky. Search feeds for "amateur radio".
Ha. I've been licensed since before the internet and my qrz lookups are 2820.
Bottom line; simple hit counters have been largely meaningless for years. Decades even. You can never tell how many are from bots, or why. It's something to be ignored IMHO.
Given the track record of RF emissions compliance with global amateur radio frequencies and other users, it's now time to make your submission to the FCC about the next cloud of satellites.
The Dark Sky community has written a step-by-step guide:
Well pre-internet the average person didn't have direct access to FCC data even though it was technically public info. Initially when QRZ.com came along it shared all the data including DOB. Then at some point QRZ added the user option to not show your DOB. Eventually, FCC made DOB non-public.
They used to dish out your date of birth as well.

*Apologies, this should have been in the con list, too
Congrats!
Wow. What a pain in the ass.
Okay thanks. Any filtering has to be manually added, on a case by case basis as stuff shows up in the feed. I'll keep content like that in mind.
what site/s do you link to?
I'm considering filtering out posts on my ham radio feeds that link to AI sites. Looking for feedback.
My reasons; unreliable results, from tech built on stolen work, foisted upon us by some of the worst people on the planet motivated by their own greed.
Please reply with your opinion either way.
Well I'll be dipped. It IS a handheld mike on a boom. False positive - my bad.

This must be some blend of an actual picture and AI slop; at least 3 of those radios look like the real deal.
"Amateur radio: Jean-Christophe Lebon achieves three world records"
I think they buried the lede. They should be talking about how he levitates a hand held microphone in midair in front of his face.

Oh, and there's yet ANOTHER open source #hamclock in progress. It sounds like this one aims to look exactly like the doomed hamclock, but at the moment it's not quite ready yet.

Another @theonion.com classic theonion.com/even-ceo-can...
I might try an Icom IC-718 that's on hand as long as I'm messing with this stuff, but my guess is that all these solid state SSB rigs are not going perform well on AM. Oh well, maybe next year I'll be on with the Gonset G76. Also have a Heathkit DX-100 gathering dust. Now THERE'S some AM.
Backing off carrier power to around 20W gets it nearly to 100%, I had to drop it to 10W to where the modulation looked like it was hitting a solid 100%. I wasn't expecting it to be perfect but this is pretty disappointing. [3/x]
One thing is clear; while it has an AM button, they did not optimize this thing for AM. The FTDX5000 puts out around it's rated 50 watts of AM carrier, but I guess they assumed you'd be happy with 50% mod. That's all I can get out of it at 50W. Β‘No bueno! [2/x]
[1/x] My ham radio boat anchor rigs needing too much work, I thought I would get in on this weekend's AM Rally (amrally.com) on my Yaesu FTDX5000. Turns out; not happening. I put it on a dummy load and scope to look at the AM mod for the 1st time...
