Thank you!!!
/3 Huge thank you to @pol2rna.bsky.social , @yasudaigaku.bsky.social and @michaeltellier.bsky.social for their incredible support with this work!!
/2 Furthermore, we demonstrated that cells undergo growth arrest following these events. Interestingly, analysis of cancer transcriptomes revealed that the expression levels of NELF and cell proliferation inhibitors are mutually exclusive.
/1 In this study, we show that the knockdown of Negative Elongation Factor (NELF-C) causes Pol II termination defects, where Pol II continues transcribing downstream of genes. This leads to collisions with DNA replication machinery, such as PCNA and MCM2, contributing to genomic instability.

Pol II transcription must be terminated at some point. What happens to the cell when Pol II cannot terminate transcription efficiently?
Extremely happy to share our latest research on the NELF complex in @emboreports.org done in collaboration with the groups of Dr Takayuki Nojima and Dr Yasukazu Daigaku in Japan.

This is figure 5, which shows CIRBP overexpression extends lifespan and enhances DNA damage resistance in Drosophila.
The remarkably long lifespan of bowhead whales could be due to an increased ability to repair DNA mutations, according to research in Nature. go.nature.com/4hzvDN7 π π§ͺ
π¨ New preprint from our labs (STOP lab @stoplab.bsky.social & Nojima lab @pol2rna.bsky.social @pyrolyn.bsky.social)! We've been digging into how chromatin remodeler SETD2 controls the start and end of transcription π www.biorxiv.org/cgi/content/... (1/5)
