TRUTH!
This is a strange war in many ways. It is entirely at Trump's discretion: when he decides to stop, it's over. The Israelis will have to go along.
This is what the future looks like. Trump will go away, and nothing he does will endure ... though there will be a lot of damage to clean up.
Good to know: Trump is not invincible. He doesn't always win, not even close to it. He talks far bigger than he is.
The problem was that, unlike Tumblr, Pinterest is, essentially, ONLY based onimages, not text -- it doesn't really support chats. I needed something chattier; some investigation led me to Threads. I'd tried Threads a few years back, and thought that Bluesky was the better deal. [2/more]
The war is all Netanyahu's idea, but I don't think he had to pressure Trump very hard to do it.
If this war is still on in November -- I'd bet on it, if not take odds -- there will the devil to pay for the GOP at the polls.
I wasn't upset, I didn't need them either. I was still trying to get up to speed when I got the boot, and was starting to wonder if Threads really offered me any more than BlueSky did. I've got too much on my plate, and it was good to take Threads off of it. [10/END]
Threads -- which is, BTW, part of Zuckerberg's Meta conglomerate -- doesn't take chances: WHEN IN DOUBT, THROW THEM OUT. There's plenty more users out there signing up, they lose nothing: IT'S NOT FAIR? WE DON'T CARE. They didn't need me. [9/more]
I didn't have a good idea of why. I asked Gemini if Threads was noted for capricious suspensions, and the answer was: YES IT IS. Social media is under pressure to clean up its act, but moderation is expensive -- so Threads accordingly got a mindless robot to do the job. [8/more]
I made good use of Google Gemini in figuring out how Threads worked; I could ask specific questions, and Gemini would usually tell me what I needed to do. However, my Threads adventure came to an abrupt halt when Threads told me I was permanently suspended. [7/more]
There's been sort of an "arms race" with hashtags, with users piling them on to get more coverage. It makes more sense to restrict to one label since it means more users were following that label. Threads helpfully checks the posting and suggests the most effective label. [6/more]
It also seemed to be equivalent to BlueSky in its features, though I had to puzzle out how to use them. One big difference is that it ignores hashtags: users can select one, and only one, "topic" for a post. On consideration, that made sense. [5/more]
Threads is working on a better scheme, but the situation is confused, and getting on board proved much more difficult than it needed to be. After I did get on board, Threads did prove better than I thought it was: the level of discourse is a lot more like BlueSky than Xitter. [4/more]
However, Threads had an order of magnitude more users than BlueSky, and that seemed like it presented an opportunity. However, signing up for Threads turned out to be a big hassle, because it's an offshoot of Instagram, and so an account has to be set up on Instagram first. [3/more]

UPDATE: I forgot to mention in my list of Trump Regime backtracks that a few days ago, the White House also gave up its harassment of defiant law firms.
Bryan Tyler Cohen suggests that Noem's real sin was trying to steal the spotlight from Trump. Maybe, but Trump's decline is still obvious.
Whenever I see Hassett, my thoughts turn towards violence.
I think it was a "wait for it!" sorta thing.
Two bombs? Probably French Hammers. US SDBs are smaller and carried on quad racks.
Yes, I spent a chunk of my life in the corporate environment, and the "suits" are not usually highly respected.

They are available from Amazon, but not on the website. You can download the HTML files from the website, but that's a little klunky.
It has to be admitted that, given Trump's vindictiveness, corporate officers would be inclined to "play it safe" and go along with him.
However, that was forgetting how painful it is to go along with a person so erratic -- and that there would a time after Trump when payment comes due.
On my morning walk, I go past a fueling station. Fuel prices have been climbing rapidly.
"We had to destroy the village in order to save it.*
Alas, no more worrisome than all the rest. Nobody with any sense would be surprised.
I just wish Trump's decline were more rapid.
